26 December 2018 Current Events Over 10 lakh bank employees on strike: Bank services to remain affected today

After December 21st, employees of about 21 banks will remain on strike today, causing likely disruption to services.

The strike comes in light of the proposed merging of several banks in the public sector domain- including that of Bank of Baroda, Vijaya Bank, and Dena Bank. The demands also include a revision of the pay scale. The bank employees have asked for a 25% pay hike. 


Pollution in the capital remains severe: Odd-Even might return

Ranked among the international worst for its air quality, the pollution levels in Delhi continue to remain severe. The air quality index in the national capital has recorded "severe" scales for four days consecutively. 

CM Arvind Kejriwal has hinted that if the situation doesn't improve soon, Odd-Even scheme might be implemented again, as part of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
