Modi hits at Congress and AAP at Jammu rally

Narendra Modi was at his aggressive best at Jammu and Kashmir. With words he charged both the Congress as well as AAP over Jammu and Kashmir. He was addressing a rally at Hiranagar in Jammu. This rally is part of the 185 Bharat Vijay rallies Modi will be addressing across the country. He stated whenever he was talking of development Congress countered with fake claim of secularism. He said for the people in the country BJP was the only choice if they wanted development. He also mentioned that CM Omar Abdullah should witness the crowd to know the mood of the people. Modi talked about the Kashmiri Pandits leaving the land and soldiers’ death on the border. In a strong attack on AAP he stated that in Pakistan 3 persons are appreciated, AK 47, AK Antony and AK 49. With AK 49 he meant Arvind Kejriwal. He also stated that in AK 49’s website Kashmir is part of Pakistan, with clear reference to Prashant Bhushan he specified that AK 49’s close associate wanted referendum in Kashmir. He also asked the people to give him 60 months as a servant to the nation when they have given 60 years for someone to rule.

Dynasty politics in BJP too?

Dynasty politics was a term which was always associated the Congress. But this time it seems BJP is doing its best to get associated with the tag. In the forthcoming elections there will be too many sons and daughters in the fray for the saffron party which makes us wonder whether the remark by Modi regarding Rahul Gandhi holds good. Among the contestants are the sons of three former and two sitting MPs like

  • Anurag Thakur will be contesting from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, son of Prem Kumar Dhumal
  • Varun Gandhi will be standing from Pilbhit Constituency in Uttar Pradesh, the son of party leader Maneka Gandhi
  • Poonam Mahajan will be contesting from Mumbai North Centreal, she is the daughter of union minister Pramod Mahajan
  • Jayant will be standing from Hazaribagh, he is the son of former union minister and MP Yashwant Sinha
  • Rajbir Singh is standing from Etah, he is the son of Kalyan Singh, former CM of Uttar Pradesh
  • Parvesh Verma is the candidate from West Delhi, he is former CM Sahib Singh Verma's son
  • Dushyant Singh, will pitch in from Jhalawar, he is the son of Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje
  • Abhishek will be fighting from the Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha constituency, he is the son of CM of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh

BJP though stated that dynasty rule thing is not applicable for the party as in Congress it happens at the top and penetrates to the bottom, whereas here the contestants are fighting the elections.

A joint press conference at the Congress headquarters was addressed by Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi. This may be the last time the three would be addressing the media together as even if UPA comes to power Manmohan Singh will not be holding the position of the prime minister. Rahul Gandhi whose ideas have been mentioned in the Congress manifesto took Modi head on and stated that the BJP will lose. He said that the manifesto was the culmination of all the ideas and opinions taken from the people from different sections of the society. He even went ahead and stated that Congress had delivered 90% of the promises made. He specified that the model which Congress adopts is for the long run referring to the 10 year rule it had. He also added that the NDA government from 1999-2004 contributed to 6% growth rate, whereas the UPA-1 furnished a 8.4% record growth rate. 7.3% growth rate was submitted by the UPA-2.
