Reliance Comm partners Jasper to deliver Internet of Things across India

Reliance Communications (RCom), part of the Anil Ambani-led group, has partnered with global Internet of Things (IoT) platform leader Jasper to enable enterprises throughout India to launch, manage and monetise next-generation IoT businesses, the company said in a filing in the Bombay Stock Exchange. Indian rocket lifts off with communication satellite

An Indian rocket with over two tonne communication satellite GSAT-6, which has several strategic applications, blasted off from the Sriharikota spaceport. Precisely at 4.52 p.m., the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Development 5 (GSLV D6) rose from the second launch pad here at Satish Dhawan Space Centre. The 49.1 metre tall rocket weighing 416 tonnes would sling the 2,117 kg GSAT-6 communication satellite in the geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) around 17 minutes into the flight. Source: IANS

India to get first fast reactor fuel reprocessing plant

The foundation for India's first fast reactor fuel reprocessing plant to be built at a cost of Rs.9,600 crore is expected to be laid in two months' time at Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu, a top official has said. "The soil excavation work for the fuel reprocessing plants is almost over as the rocky layer has been reached. In two months' time, the foundation for the reprocessing plants would be laid," P.R. Vasudeva Rao, director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) said. Source: IANS

Jammu and Kashmir's ruling coalition is opportunistic, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of practising "divisive politics". Karnataka court notice over Khel Ratna for Sania

The Karnataka High Court has issued a notice to the sports ministry for naming ace tennis star Sania Mirza for the coveted Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.City-based Paralympic Games medallist H.R. Girisha filed a writ petition in the high court against the ministry and the 28-year-old Sania over her selection this year for the prestigious award although she is ranked world number one in women’s doubles. PM quizzes Bengaluru cops on digital policing

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has quizzed city police officers through video conferencing on how effectively they were using digital technology for better policing. "When the prime minister sought details of digital policing, Cubbon Park police station inspector C. Balakrishna made a presentation on the IT software we are using and explained to him its various features," city's Additional Commissioner of Police C.H. Pratap Reddy told reporters. Source: IANS

Guiddoo launches first map-based tour

Mumbai-based travel and activity planning app Guiddoo has launched the first map-based tour and activity e-marketplace which will allow users to take virtual tours of destinations. The marketplace, which will be available across 15 countries such as India, Jordan, Philippines and Vietnam, will offer more than 5000 tours and activities.As part of its unique offerings, the company is going to provide features such as traveller-activity mappings, adaptive price forecasts for activities, travel happiness index and activity-lifestyle maps for travellers. Facebook launches new standalone app 'Moments' in India

Social networking giant Facebook has said it was introducing a new standalone app called Moments which would enable users to share photos privately."Syncing photos with the Moments app is a private way to give photos to friends and get the photos you want. Moments groups the photos on your phone based on when they were taken and, using facial recognition technology, which friends are in them," Facebook said in a release. Source: IANS
