28 April 2014 Current Events Execution of death sentence of convict of Red Fort terror shootout stayed by SC


As per media reports the execution of Mohamed Arif death sentence, who is the convict in Red Fort terror shootout in 2009, has been stayed by the apex court. The Supreme Court has stated that the convict has served almost 14 years of imprisonment already and referred the case to a constitution bench.


Ceasefire violation in Poonch again by the Pakistani soldiers


Ceasefire violation was again committed by the Pakistani soldiers in Bimar Ghali sector of LoC in Poonch district of Jammu as per the media reports. The firing began at 5:15 am with small arms and automatics to which the Indian soldiers responded with same caliber weapon as informed by the defence spokesperson. On April 25 too firing was resorted to in the same sector.


Boy kidnapped, killed and chopped into pieces in Thane


In a horrific incident as reported by the media a 12 year boy from Thane was abducted and then killed and chopped into pieces when the kidnappers came to know that the boy’s parents have approached the police. The boy was kidnapped on April 17 and a ransom of Rs 50 lakhs was asked. 4 persons have been arrested in the case.


TMC demands for an unconditional apology from Narendra Modi


Trinamool Congress has asked for unconditional apology from Narendra Modi or they will file for defamation suit as per the media reports. Yesterday Modi was addressing a rally in Sreerampore district and he mentioned about the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s painting being sold for Rs 1.80 crore. He demanded who paid such a hefty amount for that. A letter has been sent to the EC specifying that there has been violation of the model code of conduct.


Repolling at 6 booths in Agra, Etawah and Firozabad constituencies


Six polling booths in Agra, Etawah and Firozabad constituencies have undergone repolling today as the Election Commission had received reports of booth capturing and bogus voting in these booths. As per the media reports 32% turnout was noted in 4 hours. Polling was held here on Thursday and EC had got many complaints about that.


Sensex dips by 56 points


Sensex closed at 56 points down today as per media reports as stocks of capital goods, automobiles, FMCg plummeted. Selling pressure was observed in metal, capital goods and automobile. Nifty also ended at around 20 points down. Last week the market was reaching record high and this is 2nd time in a row that the markets have shown downward journey.
