At the State executive committee meeting of Bhatiya Janta Party that was held in Bangalore on Friday, president Rajnath Singh said that if Assembly poll results in five states is considered then BJP will surely win 300 seats in the coming Parliament polls next year. He gave credit to the party’s PM candidate Narendra Modi and Modi’s good governance. Rajnath Singh even asked the party worker not to get affected by the Congress’s attempt to slander Modi. He said that the order by the UPA to probe a case in Gujarat is nothing but a trick of Congress to divert public’s attention from the good governance of BJP in the state. He urged party leaders to focus on winning polls. Singh further added that the action by the central government instigate many questions like government’s commitment to the federal structure of India. He added that the UPA government should order probe in the snooping case only if it is not satisfied with the probe conducted by the orders of Gujarat government. Though court has given clean chit to party’s PM candidate but still Congress is taking up communal issues against him. He added that their PM candidate is not a communal person otherwise court would not have given him a clean chit.

India asked details to check possible tax violation – Devyani Khobragade case

In the disciplinary steps for the arrest of Devyani Khobragade, an Indian diplomat in New York, India has revoked the ID cards of U.S. consular officials and asked for the details regarding the staff in American schools and other U.S. government facilities in India. By doing so India wants to check if they are allowed to do so. Also India wants to see if they are paying taxes which are mandatory as per Indian law. Such sorts of measures clearly indicate that both the countries are not even close to resolving the case.  Mostly the spouses of diplomats take up jobs at schools or other embassy facilities but they are suppose to inform the country in which they are living. There are no comments from U.S. embassy on this issue. Special privileges enjoyed by the U.S. diplomats and their families have also been withdrawn by India. They would be treated in the same way as Indian official is treated in U.S. Now the identity cards will be given only to the consular officials but not to their families and that too with reduced privileges. Khobragade was arrested on the charges of visa fraud and underpayment of her housekeeper. She was handcuffed and strip searched. She was later released in New York on $250,000 bail. If convicted she will have to face 15 years of imprisonment. Last week U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry had also spoken to India to express regret but India is asking for dropping the charges and an unconditional apology.
