Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor admitted to Rajkot hospital for Swine flu

Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor has been tested positive for Swine flu. She was admitted to a hospital in Rajkot where Dr Chirag Matravadia of Sterling multispeciality hospital is treating her. Sonam's condition is stable. Actor was in Gujarat for the shooting of Surat Barjatya's next movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Swine flu cases keep on surging in Gujarat. So far 4000 cases have been reported and 1,256 people have died from Swine flu in Gujarat since January 1.

Karbonn launches Karbonn Titanium Dazzle

Karbonn, Indian handset manufacturer launched the Karbonn Titanium Dazzle smartphone priced at Rs 5,490. A Dual SIM device is available in two color variants viz Black and White. The smartphone has a 5 inch FWVGA display with 854 x 480 pixels resolution. Karbonn Titanium Dazzle runs Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, has 8GB of internal memory. User can expand the memory to 32 GB by using microSD card. The phone comes with “Swipe” feature meaning you have to swipe your hand to listen to next song.

India wins match against UAE

India thrashed the United Arab Emirates by nine wickets at Perth's WACA Ground on Saturday. With this the team India has now made three wins in the World Cup. In this match the UAE won the toss and elected to bat. The team made 102 runs. India reached at the target in just 18.5 overs. It is the lowest ever run made against India at a World Cup.

Government to raise funds through disinvestment

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his first full-year budget proposed to raise Rs 69,500 crore by disinvesting and strategically selling state-owned companies. Minority stake sale in PSUs will generate Rs 41,000 crore and Rs 28,500 crore is likely to come from planned sale in both profit and loss-making companies. Apart from this, PSU Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) will be used to raise Rs 5,000 crore. In the current fiscal year the government has raised near about Rs 24,500 crore by disinvesting in SAIL and Coal India. It is expected that government will raise Rs 6,850 in March, last month of this fiscal year.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presents his first full-year budget

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented his first full-year budget with a focus to speed up growth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted that the budget will further help the growth engine of the country. Apart from cutting fuel subsidies, budget has not touched any major welfare schemes. Finance Minister promised to increase investment in roads and railways. He also added that new laws would be made to track black money. There is no change in income tax rates or exemption limits for individuals. The Defence budget has been increased by 10.95% to Rs 2.46 lakh crore for the next fiscal.

Yogendra Yadav's position if AAP's political affairs committee reconstituted

It is likely that if the party political affairs committee (PAC) of AAP is reconstituted, the Aam Aadami Party (AAP) senior leader Yogendra Yadav may not retain the same position. The national executive of the Aam Aadmi Party is expected to give Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal the right to reconstitute the party. As per media report there was a tussle of words between a section of the national executive and Yadav at the national executive meet, first meet after the win of the AAP in Delhi. Few members raised questions on the selection of candidates electing elections in other states. The second meeting took place without Yadav. On Thursday morning Kejriwal also tendered his resignation as national convener of the party but it was unanimously rejected.
