Maoists claim responsibility for attack in Chattisgarh

The Maoists have specified they were responsible for the attack on the Congress convoy on May 25 attack in Chhattisgarh.

In a four page letter, the Maoists stated that Mahendra Karma was punished for launching Salwa Judum that unleashed atrocities on tribals and innocent people. They even mentioned that Nand Kumar Patel and V.C Shukla were there target apart from Karma. They wanted to kill Patel for giving approval to Operation Green Hunt where para military forces joined hands in Maoist cleanup operation.

The Naxals have expressed regret in killing Congress workers who had no fault. They mentioned their angst against the Chief Minister Raman Singh and for his policies which they think were anti-people. They also slammed the PM Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi the Congress chief and BJP president Rajnath Singh for remaining silent though innocent lives were lost in Chattisgarh.

In the letter certain, demands have also been made which included the removal of paramilitary forces from Dandakaranya and ending Operation Green Hunt as well as freeing arrested Naxals and tribals from prison without any condition.

Jethmalani expelled for 6 years from BJP

MP Ram Jethmalani is now out of BJP for six years after being expelled from the membership of the party for disciplinary reasons.

BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar in his letter to Jethmalani specified that it was a decision taken in consultation with all the members. It was further added that steps may be taken against Jethmalani for violating the party whip when on May 6 he chose not to vote for the election of the committee members on public undertakings.

Jethmalani had earlier too faced suspension and had been issued a notice to specify why disciplinary measures should not be adopted against him. This notice was sent on November 26, 2012 in response to which Jethmalani posted many questions in his letter dated December 4, 2012 but chose not to reply to the notice.

Jethmalani had some time back openly slammed Nitin Gadkari and had said he should resign as party chief over graft charges and even mentioned that Yashwant Sinha and Jaswant Singh supported his views

Amway directors arrested and sent to judicial custody

The three top officials of Amway India, that is its MD & CEO William S Pinckney and two directors Sanjay Malhothra and Anshu Budhraja were arrested by the crime branch in Kerala. They have been sent to 14 days of judicial custody. They were nabbed in connection with a case which was registered against them in 2011 in Wayanad.

Incidentally, they were in Kozhikode in connection with another case and had even got anticipatory bail for the same. In Wayanad, there were charges of violating the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act.

In Kozhikode, the case was registered by a woman Visalakshi who supposedly suffered losses. She is believed to have spent Rs 3 lakh to buy products which she was supposed to sell them utilizing multi-level marketing.

In Wayanad, three cases were registered in the previous year. The company has given statement that it has great hope in the judicial process and believed the result would be favorable.

9 year old gets bronze at World School Chess Championship

Nine-year-old Ananya Gupta from Mumbai has won a bronze medal at the World School Chess Championship in Greece. She has been trained at the South Mumbai Chess Academy (SMCA).

She got the 7th rank with an ELO of 1564. The tournament was held from May 6-15. What was heartening to note is that she defeated the much better ranked Yvonne Beline of France when she got third in the tournament. From a situation of draw, she went on to win the game by tricking her opponent and maintaining her aggressive attitude.

She had also got gold at the 9th Singapore Chess Festival previously. In this tournament, she won seven of the nine games to clinch the bronze.

Priyanka gearing up to enact the role of Mary Kom

Priyanka Chopra is gearing up to portray the character of Mary Kom in Sanjay Leela Bhanshali’s next movie which goes on floors in June.

Priyanka is working out to develop muscles and even though her facial structure doesn’t match with the world champion she is putting a lot of effort to bring in similarity in the appearance.

Priyanka said she is very much inspired with the life of Kom who travelled from Manipur into the world arena. She, in fact, is very nervous whether she will be able to do justice to the role.

The actor has played deglamorized roles earlier as well.

Samsung launched Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3

Samsung launched Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.3 which are touted as the largest smartphones in India. The company seems to be happy with the success of Note II and so these two phones have been launched. Mega 5.8 is prices at Rs 25,100 and Mega 6.3 is at Rs 31,490. The phones are mid-range.
