Supreme Court rejects the PIL against Vadra

Today the apex court rejected a PIL seeking CBI enquiry against Robert Vadra, Priyanka Gandhi’s husband and Congress President, Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law. The petition which was filed by advocate ML Sharma was dismissed on the grounds that Vadra cannot be termed a sinner by the Supreme Court Bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice HL Dattu. The bench asserted this was a publicity stunt. The bench also specified that Vadra cannot be called a sinner only due to his linkage with a political party.

The senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka, in his report had stated that Vadra had given inaccurate documents to close a number of transactions which can be termed as fraud for the Rs 58 crores land sale in Gurgaon to DLF. He also stated that Haryana government has done Vadra a favour in these deals to which the state government has denied. Khemka was chargsheeted on grounds that he went beyond his power and cancelled the land deal between Vadra and DLF.

Ram-Leela gets UA certification

Ram-Leela has been given a ‘UA’ certification by the Censor Board though this has raised the eyebrows as the movie has liberal dose of violence and explicit scenes not to be watched by anyone below 12 years of age even with parental guidance. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie which stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone is all set for a release on November 15. In fact Bhansali has himself accepted this is the most violent film he has ever made. The movie also has usage of foul language but in spite of all this the fact that the movie has received a UA certification will work for Bhansali. Bhansali’s all movies have earlier got a UA certification except Guzaarish.
