29 August 2018 Current Events Science And Technology Council formed to advise PM Modi on scientific and technological matters

A new council, Prime Minister's Science Technology and Innovation Council (PM-STIAC), has been formed to advise Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the matters relating to science, technology, and innovations. The 21-member council is headed by K Vijay Raghavan, the principal scientific adviser to the Government of India. It also consists of some esteemed personalities from the science and technology sector like noted mathematician and Princeton University professor Manjul Bharghava; Major General Madhuri Kanitkar, the first woman dean of Army Forces Medical College, Pune; former ISRO chief AS Kiran Kumar; Subhash Kak, professor at the Oklahoma State University, United States; industrialist Baba Kalyani; and  Ajay Sood, professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.


Indian government and World Bank sign loan agreements worth Rs. 300 million dollar for India Energy Efficiency Scale-up Programme

Loan agreements worth Rs. 300 million dollars have been signed between the central government and the World Bank for India Energy Efficiency Scale up Programme. This programme is going to be implemented by the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). It will help in increasing the deployment of energy saving procedures in public and residential sectors.


Top-level central delegation to visit Kerala to examine relief and rehabilitation procedures by insurance companies and banks

A top-level central delegation will be visiting flood-hit Kerala today to examine the relief and rehabilitation procedures carried out by the banks and insurance companies. The delegation is headed by the Union Minister of State(Finance), Pon. Radhakrishnan.
