29 January 2019 Current Events George Fernandes Passes away at 88

George Fernandes, the former Union minister, has passed away after battling prolonged illness this morning. He was 88 years old. He has been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for long and has even caught swine flu lately. During his political career, he had held several portfolios. From 2001-04, he handled defense ministry under Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government. He also held portfolios of railways, industry, and communications under other governments.

 

 

 


Modi Ensures National Security to People

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the efforts of the Indian Army. He also implied that although India is a proponent of peace, it could also take tough decisions to ensure the security of the country. He was addressing the National Cadet Corps cadets in New Delhi. He stated that India was one of the countries that could launch a nuclear attack on all three - water, sea, and land, as he referred to the nuclear triad's completion.
