29 November 2014 Current Events British Airways may think of partnering with an Indian carrier for hub-and-spoke operations

As per top officials of BA, market developments over the next 2-3 years will decide British Airways's (BA) decision to enter into a partnership with an Indian carrier for hub-and-spoke operations. BA currently has same arrangement with American Airlines in which American Airlines. BA at present is operating 49 flights a week including two dailies to Delhi and Mumbai and daily flights to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.


Aarif Majeed, an Islamic state recruit in NIA's custody

Islamic State ‘recruit’ Aarif Majeed was remanded by a special NIA court and kept in custody till Dec 8 for interrogation. The NIA wants to know everything about Majeed from recruitment to his role in the war for Islamic state. NIA also wants to unearth the kind of training given to Majeed before joining ISIS. Apart from Majeed there are three more youth who had joined ISIS, the U.N. Banned terror outfit. Majeed, 23 years old had been detained and later arrested by the NIA after he landed at Mumbai Airport.


PM Modi promises to make Jharkhand a number one state in the country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the people of Jharkhand for having faith in him in the Lok Sabha elections. While addressing an election rally in the state he asked the people of Jharkhand to keep the same faith in him during the assembly elections. He promised that in case the BJP is voted to complete power, he and his government would work to develop that state and make it a number one state of the country. PM Modi added that Jharkhand is extremely rich because of huge mineral deposits but looted since its formation 14 years ago. The polls will now decide the fate of the state.


Xolo Opus 3 priced at Rs 8,499 launches in India

The Xolo Opus 3, popularly known as a selfie phone has been launched in India at Rs 8,499. The phone has 5MP front-facing camera with an 88-degree wide angle and BSI sensor. Rear 8MP camera is powered by Sony Exmor R. Opus's 5-inch IPS screen comes with HD resolution. The Xolo Opus 3 has 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory that can be extended to 32GB by using microSD card. Dual SIM slots, Android 4.4 KitKat OS and 2500 mAh Li-polymer battery are few of the other properties.


Union Minister Rajnath Singh calls ISIS a major threat

Union home minister Rajnath Singh while addressing the 49th DGPs/IGs conference in Guwahati said that the world might have large number of terrorist organizations but the Indian government will not allow any of these to settle in India. He also talked about the issue of ISIS and called it a major threat to security. He also added that some youth are taken away by the ideology of ISIS. He then talked about he Burdwan blasts and added that police and NIA are investigating the incident.


First test match between India and Australia postponed

The first test match between India and Australia has been postponed because of the death of Australian player Phillip Hughes. Captain Michael Clarke announced this at the Sydney Cricket Ground and added that he and his teammates are ready to play the match that was scheduled on Thursday at the Gabba in Brisbane. He added that Phillip's death had a huge impact on him. Hughes died on Thursday after he was hit by a short-pitched 'bouncer' delivery in the head while playing a domestic match at the SCG.
