30 June 2020 Current Events 59 Chinese Apps Banned in India including TikTok

On Monday, the government of India banned 59 Chinese apps in the country. A day after the announcement, the Apple app store and Google Play store have removed the apps. Tik Tok is one of the most downloaded apps in India, which had nearly 119 million active users. Though users who still have the app can continue to use, it can't be downloaded anymore. However, most of the other Chinese apps which are banned in India are still available for download. Meanwhile, Tik Tok has responded to the move saying that the app has been invited to meet with concerned government stakeholders for an opportunity to respond and submit clarification.
