Bus tragedy in Andhra Pradesh


Tragedy struck early in the morning today when a Volvo bus with 49 passengers aboard caught fire when it hit a culvert and its fuel tank exploded in Mehaboobnagar, Andhra Pradesh. 45 people lost their lives in the incident.The bus had started its journey from Bengaluru’s Kalasipalya area to Hyderabad on Tuesday night. Seven people including the driver, cleaner saved themselves escaping from a window. The fire happened when a tank exploded and caught the passengers unaware as they were sleeping. The bus owner stated that the driver informed him about this in the morning. The seats caught fire and people died of burns. Some were burnt so badly that their body could not be recognized. Police have been asked to get the details of the people travelling in the bus so that their families can be compensated.

Bomb blasts in Manipur kills two


Two powerful bombs happened at Imphal’s West district in Manipur which led to loss of life of two persons and five were critically injured. IED was triggered at Yaiskul bus stand close to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh's office and residence early morning at 6.20 AM. Those who lost their lives in the bomb blast have been identified as Hollun Taothang from Churachandpur district and Laishram Brojen from Imphal East district. The injured are being treated at Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital (RIMSH). Those who died may have been on a walk or were waiting for a vehicle when the blasts occurred. Similar blast was also conducted by the militants along a road when while security personnel patrolling at Moidangpok area, at a distance of 5 km west at 10 AM. Security personnel got alert immediately but could not find anyone. Rs 5,000 each has been given for meeting the expenses of those undergoing treatment. Security has been beefed up after the incident and patrolling increased to obstruct the movement of militants.

Sensex soars up 105 points, closes at record high of 21,033.97 points


Sensex soared up 105 points and stood at 21,033.97 spurred by huge inflow of foreign funds in bluechips, and with the upbeat mood speculating that US Fed would keep its monetary stimulus static whilst meeting today. On Tuesday the hike was of 359 points and today it rose by 104.96 points that is 0.50% to 21,033.97. This overshadows earlier record close of 21,004.96 on November 5, 2010. Bharti Airtel scrips soared by 5.23% while other gainers were ITC, HDFC, ICICI Bank, TCS, Dr Reddy's Lab and Bajaj Auto. Sensex had touched highest mark on January 10, 2008 that of 21,206.77 points.The NSE rose by 0.50% or 30.80 points standing at 6,251.70.

These findings are a part of a 216 pages report formulated by the World Bank and International Finance Corporation. India is at 134th position when it comes to convenience of doing business. For doing business in India with ease Delhi is followed by Patna, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Bhubaneshwar. A number of factors were taken into consideration like getting permits for construction, registration, obtaining credit among other things.

Betting of Rs 1,000 crores expected for Sachin's last two matches


Rs 1,000 crore is expected to be pinned on Sachin Tendulkar’s score in the last two matches and the bookies are looking for making big money in this case. 80 million actives BBM users


BBM has got 80 million active monthly users. The app was unveiled on iOS and Android on October 21 and had been downloaded by 20 million users after that. The app facilitates message exchange as well as notifies users when the message is delivered and read. Apart from this the app also allows sharing of videos, photos, sound files not exceeding 6MB in size. The rollout on Android and iOS started one month later than the desired date as a fictitious app was released before that which people downloaded thinking it to be BBM. BlackBerry has stated it will focus on engagement and would look for the active users and not only those who have downloaded it.
