31 March 2016 Current Events Vacuum cleaning of Delhi roads to commence from tomorrow

After the successful implementation of Odd-Even Phase 1, Delhi government has come up with a new initiative of making the roads in Delhi greener and cleaner. Vacuum cleaning of Delhi roads will begin from tomorrow, with all the bad patches on the roads being covered with shrubs and trees. Named as the Greening Delhi initiative, the same was inaugurated by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at Green Triangle near Delhi Secretariat today.


Under-construction flyover collapses in North Kolkata

An under-construction flyover collapsed in North Kolkata near Ganesh Talkies (Girish Park), leaving numerous trapped under the debris. With the rescue operations still on, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, who was on her way to undertake a rally is heading back home. Previously, the locals had objected to the design of the flyover as some of its stretches crossed very close to multi storied buildings, situated on both the sides of the existing road stretch.


Cocaine worth Rs. 10 cr, seized at Delhi Airport

The Custom officials have seized over two kilograms of cocaine worth Rs. 10 crore from a woman who reached Delhi from Dubai on 25 March 2016. Some critical information about the Zimbabwe resident had already been received by the custom officials. The woman had stored the cocaine in a cavity that was built in her shoulder bag. Earlier, in the year 2013, the custom officials had seized around four kilograms of cocaine from the Delhi Airport’s cargo terminal.


Mercedes Benz S400 comes to India

After adhering to its 15 in ’15 strategy by launching 15 new models in India, Mercedez-Benz has promised to launch 12 new cars- one car dedicated to each month. The German car manufacturing company has launched the Mercedez-Benz S 400 at a price of Rs. 1.31 crore ex-showroom Delhi. Currently, Mercedez Benz is selling S-Class luxury sedan in four variants- S500, S350, the VR9 certified S-Guard and the VR10 certified Maybach S600 Guard.
