31 March 2018 Current Events Reserve Bank of India's offices to remain open until 8 pm today

The offices of Reserve Bank of India along with all designated branches of agency bank which conduct government banking will keep their counters open today till 8 pm. This is for greater convenience to the taxpayers. E-tractions can also be done until midnight today.


Re-examination of Class 12th Economics Paper on 25th April for Delhi & Haryana students

Central Board of Secondary Examination(CBSE) is going to conduct the re-examination of class 12th Economics exam on April 25. The date for class 10th re-examination is still unknown. The Secretary School Education Anil Swarup said this decision to conduct the re-examination will be taken in next 15 days. He further said that a primary inquiry has revealed that the leak of Class 10th paper is restricted to Delhi and Haryana, so if re-exam will take place then it will be held in these two states only.


India's first lady doctor Anandi Gopal Joshi's 153rd birthday today

Today is the 153rd birthday of Anandi Gopal Joshi, who was the first female doctor of India and the first to obtain a degree in western medicine. She graduated with an MD from Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania (now known as Drexel University College of Medicine). She returned to India in 1886 and was appointed as the physician-in-charge of the female ward of the local Albert Edward Hospital by the princely state of Kolhapur. Anandi died on February 26, 1887, at the age of 21 due to contracted tuberculosis. Google has also dedicated a doodle to honor her.
