Ban on Condom Ads on TV

All the condom promotion ads will be banned from Indian television as they pose indecent content for children. According to officials, the content can harm the psyche of children. The ads, however, can run from 10 PM to 6 AM. No TV channels are allowed to telecast the ads at any other time. Failure to obey the order may cause legal action against them.

Actor Shashi Kapoor dies aged 79

Veteran film actor Shashi Kapoor has died in Mumbai aged 79. The younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, he acted in notable films such as Dewaar, Junoon etc. He was also famous for his theatre work. He is survived by daughter Sanjana Kapoor and sons Kunal and Karan. Here you can know more about Shashi Kapoor.

Protestors demand a ban on Padmavati

In several parts of the country, protests against Padmavati intensified on Friday. Several people in the states of Haryana, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan, took to the streets demanding a ban on the movie on the grounds that it distorted facts and hurt sentiments. The entrance to the Chittorgarh Fort was also blocked by protestors who stated that they will not allow the film to be released.

Vinod Khanna Dies after Battling Cancer for Many Years

As per reports, the heartthrob of Hindi films, Vinod Khanna died at 11.20 am on Thursday after battling bladder cancer for many years. He was 70.

Sources revealed that the funeral will take place on Wednesday evening.

His friends and colleagues from the film fraternity shared their grief at his death.

Karan Johar Becomes Dad to a Girl and a Boy through Surrogacy

Famous Bollywood director-producer Karan Johar has become proud father of twin babies - a girl named Roohi and a boy named Yash. Karan made the public announcement on Sunday morning through his official tweeter handle saying "two most wonderful additions to my life and lifelines". Reports say the children were born at Masarani Hospital of Mumbai through surrogacy. This is the same hospital where AbRam, third child of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri, were born with the help of a surrogate mother.  

Rajasthan Minister Assures Jat Leaders of Not Showing "Padmavati" Till They Clear It

Energy Minister of Rajasthan, Pushpendra Singh, assured a section of Rajput community that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Padmavati will not be released in the state until screened to the community members. The announcement comes a month after a Rajput group, Karni Sena, roughed up Bhansali and his crew while they were shooting at Jaigarh Fort. While Rajputs allege distortion of historical facts by Bhansali, many historians including Irfan Habib say that Padmavati (or Rani Padmini) is only a work of fiction, whose earliest mention can be found in epic poems of Malik Muhammad Jayasi.

Vidya Balan Supports Gurmehar Kaur

While many personalities from the Sports and Bollywood fraternity have criticised Gurmehar Kaur for her post against the ABVP student organisation, Vidya Balan when asked in an interview said that everyone's individuality should be respected and she does not want to comment further as everyone has the freedom to express themselves. Apart from Vidya, the other Bollywood stars who have expressed their support to Gurmehar are Javed Akhtar, Pooja Bhatt, Shirish Kunder and Vishal Dadlani.

Rwanda's Senate hard sold its picturesque hilly surroundings to India by hosting a luncheon for Vice President of India Hamid Ansari at Hotel des Mille Collines, the oldest luxury hotel atop Kigali, giving a stunning hilly view. “Remarkable Rwanda” is now alluring “Incredible India” and urging the Indian film (Bollywood) fraternity to shoot films in its salubrious surroundings. Hamid Ansari’s visit is the first high-level visit to this East African country. Ansari was accompanied by Secretary, Economic Relations in the MEA, Amar Sinha. 

Priyanka Chopra will Attend Oscars 2017

Acclaimed Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has announced that she'll attend 89th Academy Awards (to be held at Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles), present an award, and walk the red carpet. Priyanka made the announcement by posting an Instagram picture with legendary British singer Mick Jagger. Initially, another Bollywood diva Deepika Padukon was also expected to attend Oscars 2017 but will miss this time. Oscars ceremony will be aired in India on 27 February 2017 from 7 am.  Last year, Priyanka Chopra was one of the presenters at the 88th Academy Awards and presented the award for best film editing.

As per reports, actresses Anushka Sharma and Rekha were seen casting their votes for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections on Tuesday. Anushka Sharma even shared her picture on Instagram showing her inked finger. Other Bollywood celebrities are also expected to cast their votes as a duty towards the country & its progress.

Anurag Kashyap Speaks on Violence on Set of Bhansali's Padmavati in Jaipur

As per reports, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap supporting Sanjay Leela Bhansali said that it is sad to fear the prime minister of your nation, as you yourself chose him. He put these words in opposition to “Hindu extremists” for violence on the set of Bhansali’s Padmavati in Jaipur.

In his official Facebook page, Kashyap mentioned that he has been taught to question those who govern the public and he has been doing this since he was a student.

Bhansali cancels shooting of Padmavati in Rajasthan after attack

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has called off the shooting of his most-talked-about project Padmavati in Jaipur, Rajasthan and has returned back to Mumbai. This move came after the director was manhandled by members of Karni Sena on the sets of the movie in Jaipur yesterday.

The Bajirao-mastani fame director was slapped and the movie sets were destroyed along with expensive film equipments.

This movie is based on the 1303 saga of Alauddin Khilji’s obsession for Rani Padmini, the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh. Bhansali’s Padmavati is allegedly expected to portray a romantic plot between Rani Padmini (played by Deepika Padukone) and Alauddin Khilji (enacted by Ranveer Singh).

However, Shobha Sant the CEO of Bhansali Productions has denied any such scene to be a part of the film.

Meanwhile, several actors and filmmakers have condemned the attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the incident has angered the Bollywood fraternity. The Indian Film & Television Directors Association (IFTDA) has also expressed its disapproval on the attack and has urged the government to take immediate action and provide full security to Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Jackie Chan gets Traditional Welcome at Mumbai International Airport

Jackie Chan arrived at Mumbai International airport on Monday where he received a traditional welcome. He was greeted with tilak and a garland. He waved out to the crowd.

The mega star is in India for promoting his action-adventure comedy, starring Disha Patani and Amyra Dastur in key roles.

As per reports, he will be staying at a suburban five-star hotel. An extensive Indian menu along with a choreographed dance number have been planned for him.

Salman Khan Acquitted, Jodhpur Court gives him Benefit of Doubt

Salman Khan has been acquitted by a court in Jodhpur in the 18-year-old Arms Act case, and gave him benefit of doubt. As per reports, CJM Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit in the 102-page judgment said that the prosecution could not prove charges framed against Salman under sections 3/25 and 3/27 of the Indian Arms Act.

The prosecution lawyer said that the order will be analysed and a call on the appeal will be taken by the government.

Shahid Kapoor Confirms at an Interview in Mumbai no Tiff with Kangana Ranaut

Stories were doing the rounds about tiff between Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut, and hinted that they will not be promoting their upcoming film Rangoon together. However, Shahid clarified the reports at an interview in Mumbai and confirmed that there are no issues between the two actors and he will be glad to promote the film anywhere and anytime with Kangana and Saif Ali Khan.

Talking about Rangoon, he said that this is his third film with Vishal Bhardwaj and expressed his respect for Bhardwaj. He also mentioned that Rangoon is a different film from Haider and Kaminey and based on a true story.

Vin Diesel Receives Traditional Welcome in Mumbai

Mark Sinclair, more popularly known as Vin Diesel today landed in Mumbai with his xXx co-star Deepika Padukone and xXx director DJ Caruso where they received a pleasant traditional welcome at Kalina Airport.

After the warm welcome, Diesel took the VIP exit and headed to St. Regis hotel where he will be staying for the rest of his trip.

Reports say that Diesel will stay in India for a couple of days. He will be tied up with fan meet, press interaction and a grand premiere of xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.

Mahira to Promote Raees via Skype

As the relation between the two neighbouring nations have soured, Mahira Khan has chosen a way to promote her upcoming film Raees in India. As per reports, Mahira is not in Mumbai now but will be available on Skype to give interviews to the audience to promote her film.

Mahira is already promoting the film on social media. She has shared a song Zaalima's video from her Twitter account, which has garnered over 25 million views.

Aamir Khan's recent film Dangal has broken record of his own film PK, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. In just 17 days of its release, the film has become the first to hit the 350 crore mark in Bollywood. The film is now strutting towards a 400 crore mark.

Censor Board Clears 'Udta Punjab' After 13 Cuts Under 'A' Category

CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalani said that the Censor board has cleared the much talked about Bollywood film 'Udta Punjab' with 13 cuts under the 'A' category. Nihalani had been attacked by the Bollywood film industry for suggesting a large number of cuts in the movie which is themed on the drug problem of Punjab. The nine members of the Central Board of Film Certification cleared the film "unanimously" after the proposed 13 cuts.

CINTAA to hold 17 counselling sessions for actors

In the wake of recent suicide by Pratyusha Banerjee of Balika Vadhu fame, members of CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association) have decided to hold a total of 17 counselling sessions with the actors, starting from 17 April 2016. The committee aims to find the root cause of suicides, followed by eradicating the same rightaway. All actors would sit together with the CINTAA members to discuss their highs and lows.
