Amitabh Bachchan declared today that he would be donating Rs. 1.5 crore to the farmers to waive off their loans and Rs. 1 crore to the families of the martyrs.
The Supreme Court of India has cleared the way for the all-India release of the movie Padmaavat. The date to release the movie is January 25. As per the reports, Supreme Court has stayed orders and notifications of Rajasthan and Gujarat government who prohibited the release of the movie and has also restrained other states from imposing such bans.

Veteran film actor Shashi Kapoor has died in Mumbai aged 79. The younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, he acted in notable films such as Dewaar, Junoon etc. He was also famous for his theatre work. In several parts of the country, protests against Padmavati intensified on Friday. Several people in the states of Haryana, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan, took to the streets demanding a ban on the movie on the grounds that it distorted facts and hurt sentiments. The entrance to the Chittorgarh Fort was also blocked by protestors who stated that they will not allow the film to be released.
As per reports, the heartthrob of Hindi films, Vinod Khanna died at 11.20 am on Thursday after battling bladder cancer for many years. He was 70.

Famous Bollywood director-producer Karan Johar has become proud father of twin babies - a girl named Roohi and a boy named Yash. Karan made the public announcement on Sunday morning through his official tweeter handle saying "two most wonderful additions to my life and lifelines". Reports say the children were born at Masarani Hospital of Mumbai through surrogacy. This is the same hospital where AbRam, third child of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri, were born with the help of a surrogate mother.
Energy Minister of Rajasthan, Pushpendra Singh, assured a section of Rajput community that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Padmavati will not be released in the state until screened to the community members. The announcement comes a month after a Rajput group, Karni Sena, roughed up Bhansali and his crew while they were shooting at Jaigarh Fort. While Rajputs allege distortion of historical facts by Bhansali, many historians including Irfan Habib say that Padmavati (or Rani Padmini) is only a work of fiction, whose earliest mention can be found in epic poems of Malik Muhammad Jayasi.

Acclaimed Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has announced that she'll attend 89th Academy Awards (to be held at Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles), present an award, and walk the red carpet. Priyanka made the announcement by posting an Instagram picture with legendary British singer Mick Jagger. Initially, another Bollywood diva Deepika Padukon was also expected to attend Oscars 2017 but will miss this time. Oscars ceremony will be aired in India on 27 February 2017 from 7 am. Last year, Priyanka Chopra was one of the presenters at the 88th Academy Awards and presented the award for best film editing.

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has called off the shooting of his most-talked-about project Padmavati in Jaipur, Rajasthan and has returned back to Mumbai. This move came after the director was manhandled by members of Karni Sena on the sets of the movie in Jaipur yesterday.
The Bajirao-mastani fame director was slapped and the movie sets were destroyed along with expensive film equipments.
This movie is based on the 1303 saga of Alauddin Khilji’s obsession for Rani Padmini, the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh. Bhansali’s Padmavati is allegedly expected to portray a romantic plot between Rani Padmini (played by Deepika Padukone) and Alauddin Khilji (enacted by Ranveer Singh).
However, Shobha Sant the CEO of Bhansali Productions has denied any such scene to be a part of the film.
Meanwhile, several actors and filmmakers have condemned the attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the incident has angered the Bollywood fraternity. The Indian Film & Television Directors Association (IFTDA) has also expressed its disapproval on the attack and has urged the government to take immediate action and provide full security to Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

As per reports, CJM Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit in the 102-page judgment said that the prosecution could not prove charges framed against Salman under sections 3/25 and 3/27 of the Indian Arms Act.
