Rajasthan CM Dilemma: Ashok Gehlot Vs Sachin Pilot
After registering a stunning win in the state, Congress is yet to decide on its chief ministerial candidate. It’s either Ashok Gehlot or Sachin Pilot who would make it to the ultimate position in the state government. The BJP took a nasty defeat – falling by 89 seats from what it bagged the last year. And, it is a significant win for INC, as it has increased its seat count by 80 seats from the last time.

Congress Overthrows BJP in Chhattisgarh
Congress had a sweeping victory in the state, winning the polls with more than twice the seats necessary for forming the government. The Congress would soon declare its next CM in a meeting which will be held in Raipur. The top contenders for the post are state party chief Bhupesh Baghel, Lok Sabha member Tamradhwaj Sahu, and senior leader TS Singh Deo. The Congress through its phenomenal victory has ended the 15-year-old rule of the saffron party in the state.

More Participation in National Politics by KCR after Telangana Win
After the emphatic win of his party TRS, KCR is all set to be the CM of the state again. On the occasion, KCR stated that he would actively get involved in the national politics. He has won by over 50,000 votes from Gajwel constituency. The TDP-Congress alliance just managed to grab 21 seats, way short of the minimum required to form the government.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan Takes Responsibility for BJP’s Defeat in MP
Falling just 2 seats short of forming the majority, Congress grabbed 114 seats in the state. The party has ended the long winning streak of BJP and has staked claims to form the government. The CM candidate is likely to be soon announced by the party. The decision will be taken by the Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Sachin Pilot, the State unit President, is highly likely to get selected for the post. While for the defeat of the saffron party in the state, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken the full responsibility.

MNF Stakes Claim to Form Govt in Mizoram
After having a sweeping win in Mizoram, Mizo National Front (MNF) is all set to oust the Congress from the state. The party, which won 26 seats of the total 40, has staked claims to form the government in the state. This is the party’s entry into the Assembly as the leading government after a decade. The CM Lal Thanhawla has already given his resignation.

Telangana elections update
With the results of Assembly Elections in Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao said that people have voted for ‘development’. Leading with 88 out of 119 seats, Mr. KCR’s party outstripped the Congress-Chandrababu Alliance.Party leader T Harish Rao said that it is the people’s victory and they once again upheld the pride of Telangana. Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh, while addressing media, said he took full responsibility of BJP’s defeat in the state. The party is likely to close in the state with 16 out of 90 seats. In Rajasthan, Kailash Meghwal, the current assembly speaker has won from Shahpur constituency with a record lead of 74,542 votes.Out of the five states, only Madhya Pradesh is still ensuing in suspense. Congress has ascertained its hold in 2 states, TRS in Telangana, and MNF in Mizoram.Addressing the media post TRS’s win in Telangana, KCR expressed his happiness over how his “agenda and manifesto have been accepted” by the state’s people. In Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, Congress seems to bag the victory, leading in respectively 101 and 64 seats.

In Madhya Pradesh, the fight still remains suspenseful. However, Congress is slowly creating a margin between itself and BJP, with the two parties leading from 117 and 103 seats respectively. Telangana has already turned pink, with the Election Commission declaring 21 wins in TRS’s bag, and 67 leads, putting the party’s total tally at 88 out of total 119 seats.

Congress currently enjoying a significant lead in Rajasthan the next stage preparations have already begun. According to Sachin Pilot (Source: PTI), the legislative party will meet in Rajasthan tomorrow morning, possibly to make a decision on the cabinet meeting.In Mizoram, MNF has established a clear majority for itself, having won 26 out of the 40 seats so far. Only one seat remains for which the result isn’t out yet.

MNF secures majority in Mizoram
In Mizoram, results for 34 out of 40 seats are out, with the Mizo National Front securing a win from 23 seats. With this, the party has obtained a clear majority,. as per the latest statement by Election Commission. MNF is leading in 3 more seats so far, and Congress seems to have stopped at 5 seats.

The caretaker CM of Telangana and TRS chief, KCR has won in the constituency of Gajwel by over 50,000 seats. In Madhya Pradesh, the nail-biting situation has once again intensified, with Congress now leading in 11 seats, and BJP in 108. Things are looking good for INC in Chhattisgarh, with a lead in 62 out of 84 seats.

Raje, Pilot, Gehlot win from their constituencies
Tides seem to be turning in Madhya Pradesh, with BJP currently maintaining a lead in 11 seats. Congress is following close at 108. In Rajasthan, victory has come for three big names- CM Vasundhara Raje (from Jhalrapatan), Sachin Pilot (from Tonk), and Ashok Gehlot (from Sardarpura). Pilot has won by a striking gap of over 50,000 votes.

The fight for power in Madhya Pradesh continues to be a tight one. As per the Election Commission’s website, Congress is leading from 111 seats, and BJP from 108 seats. In Mizoram, results for 28 out of 40 seats are out, MNF and Congress having won 19 and 4 seats respectively.Celebrations have begun for Congress in Kolkata. In Tonk, Sachin Pilot is almost sure to win, with a lead of over 30,000 votes over BJP’s Yoonus Khan.

“I am happy with the results as the BJP is losing”, said the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (j) president, Ajit Jogi. In Chhattisgarh, BJP is currently projected to be leading from 18 seats, a stark decline of 31 from the previous elections.

The status of incumbent Chief Ministers in the five states
While things might be looking bad for individual ruling parties in some states, the Chief Ministers have more or less succeeded in maintaining a stronghold over their constituencies.Aside from Mizoram, the rest of the four states have current CMs leading from their home seats, namely-KCR from Gajwel (Telangana), Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Budhni (MP), Raman Singh from Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh), and Vasundhara Raje from Jhalrapatan (Rajasthan). In Mizoram, Lal Thanhawla, CM is trailing behind from Serchhip constituency.

Congress is still maintaining a lead in Rajasthan, despite falling from the initial estimates of 103 to 99 now. Sachin Pilot from Congress is currently leading from the Tonk constituency. The party is ahead in both Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh as well, with competition comparatively tighter in MP.Validating Owaisi’s statement, it seems like TRS will manage to secure a majority government, currently leading from 87 seats.

A big likely disappointment awaits Congress in the state of Mizoram where the party is currently in power. The current figures show Mizo National Front leading in 26 out of the 40 seats, whereas Congress is standing at 8. This marks a 26-seat decline for INC as opposed to the previous assembly elections.

Countering the speculations about anti-incumbency, KCR-led party Telangana Rashtra Samithi is successfully maintaining a clear majority lead in the state. TRS is currently leading on 87 out of the total 119 constituency seats. The grand Congress alliance is trailing at the second position, with 21 seats. BJP has secured an advantage in 5 seats for now, same figures as in 2014.

After a close tussle between BJP and Congress, things look good for the Rahul Gandhi-led party. Congress has emerged with a considerable lead in 53 seats. BJP is trailing behind at 26. The Ajit Jogi-Mayawati alliance is currently maintaining a lead in 9 seats.

Cut-throat competition pursues in the state, with Congress currently maintaining a slim lead. As of 10:00 AM, INC is leading in 101 seats, and BJP in 100. The Bahujan Samaj Party has a grip over 3 seats so far. The Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan is leading from his constituency, Budhni.

Rajasthan Assembly Elections
The counting of results is ongoing in the state of Rajasthan, where the latest trends show a possible loss for the BJP-led government. So far, the Indian National Congress is leading in 101 out of the total 199 constituencies. The “century” number (100) is what a party needs to hit the majority mark in the assembly. CM Vasundhara Raje, however, is retaining her lead in Jhalrapatan constituency.

A day prior to the final showdown, the exit polls show mixed results for the leading national parties. According to rough estimates, exit polls predict a clear victory for Congress in the BJP-led Rajasthan. However, things are more cut-throat in other states. Madhya Pradesh can fall into any side of the court, while Chhattisgarh shows chances of even a hung assembly. In the Congress-ruled Mizoram, exit polls show a possible wave of anti-incumbency sweeping the state, with MNF-BJP coalition coming out as a strong candidate for victory.

In the past few months, the people of India have their eyes glued on the end of the year assembly elections. And, why not? The state assembly elections will pave way for the much-awaited 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

The five states to go into elections were – Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram. With polling concluding on December 7, the date for vote counts is December 11.
