Kolkata has Declined to the Moderate Zone on AQI
Bengaluru and Chennai in the south remain in the Satisfactory Zone with 78 and 89 index values, respectively. The common pollutant found in both cities is PM2.5. In the north, Delhi, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are in the Very Poor Zone with 353, 323, and 365 index values, respectively. PM2.5 is the leading cause of pollution in all three cities. Kolkata in the east has declined to Moderate Zone with 152 index value. In contrast, Mumbai on the west coast remains in its previous day category of Satisfactory Zone with 94 index value. PM2.5 and PM10 are the prominent pollutants found in these cities.

Delhi has Further Declined to the Very Poor Zone on AQI
As per today’s air quality index (AQI), Bengaluru and Chennai are in the Satisfactory Zone with 67 and 80 index values, respectively. PM2.5 and O3 are the common pollutants found in both cities. Delhi, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad have declined to the Very Poor Zone with 349, 350, and 379 index values in the north. The leading cause of pollution found in all three cities is PM2.5. Kolkata in the east is in Satisfactory Zone with 66 index value, O3 and PM10 being the primary pollutants found in the city. Mumbai on the west coast is in the Satisfactory Zone with 83 index value. The prominent pollutants found in the city are PM10, PM2.5, and CO.

Faridabad has Declined to the Very Poor Zone on AQI
As per the latest air quality index (AQI) bulletin, Bengaluru and Chennai are in the Satisfactory Zone with 59 and 69 index values, respectively. PM10 is the common pollutant found in both cities. In the north, Delhi is in the Poor Zone with 296 index value. In contrast, Faridabad has also joined Ghaziabad in the Very Poor Zone with 315 and 318 index values. The prominent pollutants found in all three cities are PM10 and PM2.5. Kolkata in the east is in Good Zone with 31 index value. O3, PM10, and CO are the remnant pollutants found in the city. As per today’s air quality index (AQI), Bengaluru and Chennai remain in the previous day category of Satisfactory Zone with 56 and 51 index values, respectively. The remnant pollutants found in both these cities are PM2.5 and PM10. Delhi and Ghaziabad in the north are in the Poor Zone with 256 and 254 index values. Faridabad has further declined to Vey Poor Zone with 302 index value. PM10 and PM2.5 are the leading cause of pollution in the city. Today’s air quality index (AQI) reads that major cities in the southern region like Bengaluru and Chennai are in the Satisfactory Zone with 76 and 59 index values, respectively. The common pollutant found in both these cities is PM2.5. Delhi and Ghaziabad remain in the Poor Zone with 223 index value in both the cities in the north. Faridabad is also in the Poor Zone with 231 index value. PM2.5 and PM10 are the prominent pollutants found in all three cities. PM10, O3, and CO are the prominent pollutants found in both the cities. In the north, Delhi, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are in the Poor Zone with 239, 253, and 266. The leading cause of pollution found in all three cities is PM2.5. Kolkata in the east and Mumbai on the west coast are in the Satisfactory Zone with 62 and 59 index values on the AQI. As per the latest air quality index (AQI) bulletin, Bengaluru and Chennai in the South are in the Satisfactory Zone with 66 and 52 index values. The remnant pollutants found in both these cities are CO (Carbon Monoxide) and Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5). Most of the northern region has declined on the AQI. For example, Delhi, Faridabad in Haryana, and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh are in the Moderate Zone with 142, 198, and 142 index values, respectively. PM2.5 and PM10 are the leading cause of pollution in all these three cities. On the other hand, Kolkata in the east and Mumbai on the west coast are in the Good Zone with 36 and 39 index values on the AQI.

Air quality index (AQI) today witnesses a decline in some of the major and smaller cities. Bengaluru and Chennai are in the Good Zone with 34 and 50 index values. Delhi, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad have declined to the Moderate Zone with 108, 179, and 127 index values. The leading cause of pollution in all three cities are O3 (Ozone) and PM10. Kolkata in the east is in Good Zone with 47 index value. Mumbai on the west coast is in the Satisfactory Zone with 68 index value. Some of the cities like Ballabgarh (Haryana), Bhiwadi (Rajasthan), and Charkhi Dadri (Haryana) have declined to Poor Zone for the first time in months with 213, 241, and 245 index values. Some amount of PM2.5 is present in all three cities.

As per Central Pollution Control Board’s Monday’s air quality index (AQI) bulletin, major cities in India such as Bengaluru and Chennai in the southern part resting in the Satisfactory Zone with 55 and 61 index values, respectively. The prominent pollutants which can still be found in these cities are PM10 in former and PM2.5, O3 (Ozone) in the latter. Major cities in the north i.e. the capital Delhi, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are in the Satisfactory Zone with 52, 68 and 51 index values, respectively. The common remnant pollutant found in all the three cities is O3. Breathing O3 (Ozone) can expose people to a variety of health problems namely chest pain, throat irritation, and airway inflammation. Moving on to the east and west coast, Kolkata and Mumbai are in Good Zone with 46 and 47 index values, respectively on the AQI. After several weeks, one city has been found in Poor Zone i.e; Nandesari in the Vadodara district in the state of Gujarat with 280 index value. The main cause of pollution in this town is PM2.5.

Ghaziabad, which declined to the Moderate Zone yesterday, has improved to the Satisfactory Zone once again with 70 index value on the Air Quality Index (AQI). Kolkata in the east and Mumbai on the west coast continue to be in the Good Zone with 44 and 49 index values respectively. Other cities that are found in the Moderate Zone are Ernakulam and Kochi with 105 index value, Nandesari in Gujarat with 134 index value, and Vapi in Gujarat with 101 index value.

As per fresh readings on Monday, Bengaluru and Chennai in the south remain in the Good and Satisfactory Zone with 33 and 63 index values respectively. Pollution level dropped in the north after first heavy rainfall of monsoons in the region. The major cities in the north such as Delhi, Faridabad and Ghaziabad are in the Satisfactory Zone with 65, 64 and 92 index values respectively. Kolkata and Mumbai are in the Good Zone with 36 and 46 index values respectively. On today’s air quality index (AQI), only two cities are found in Moderate Zone: Ballabgarh in Haryana with 128 index value and Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab with 128 index value. No cities are found in Poor or very Poor Zone.

As per Saturday’s air quality index (AQI) bulletin, Bengaluru and Chennai are in Good and Satisfactory Zone with 34 and 80 index values respectively. The remnant pollutants found in both these cities are CO (Carbon monoxide), O3 (Ozone), and PM2.5. Delhi, Faridabad and Ghaziabad in the northern region remain in Satisfactory Zone with 79, 76 and 87 index values respectively. PM2.5 and PM10 are the prominent pollutants found in all the three cities. Kolkata in the east and Mumbai on the west coast are in Good zone with 27 and 34 index values respectively on the AQI.

As per Thursday’s air quality index (AQI) bulletin, Bengaluru and Chennai are in Good and Satisfactory Zone with 30 and 61 index values respectively. CO (Carbon Monoxide) is the main cause of pollution in both these cities. In the north, Delhi, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad which were in Moderate Zone yesterday have improved to Satisfactory Zone with 72, 74 and 85 index values respectively. PM10 is the prominent pollutant found in all the three cities. Kolkata in the east and Mumbai on the west coast are in Good Zone with 29 and 33 index values respectively on the AQI.

The Capital Remains in Moderate Zone, Partly Due to Less Rainfall in July
As per the new readings by Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) air quality index (AQI) bulletin, major cities in India like Bengaluru and Chennai in the south are in the Good and the Satisfactory Zone with 34 and 71 index values respectively. PM2.5 and CO (Carbon monoxide) are the common pollutants found in both these cities. In the north, Delhi, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad have declined to the Moderate Zone with 124, 161, and 128 index values, respectively. The pollution level in Delhi is in a constant deteriorating state, partly because of the less rainfall in the region. On the other hand, Kolkata in the east and Mumbai on the west coast continue to be in the Good Zone with 28 and 31 index values respectively on the AQI.

Bengaluru, which declined to the Satisfactory Zone on Saturday, has again shifted to Good Zone with 46 index value. Chennai, on the other hand, is in the Satisfactory Zone with 88 index value. The remnant pollutants in this city are O3 (Ozone) and CO (Carbon monoxide). In the north, Delhi has shifted to the Satisfactory Zone with 98 index value, whereas Faridabad and Ghaziabad remain in the Moderate Zone. Particulate matter (PM10) is the leading cause of pollution in all these three cities. Kolkata in the east and Mumbai on the west coast are in Good Zone with 34 and 43 index values respectively. In the north, Delhi and Faridabad, which improved to the Satisfactory Zone yesterday, have the again reduced to Moderate Zone with 148 and 165 index values respectively. The leading cause of pollution is O3 and PM10 in both cities. Ghaziabad, on the other hand, remains in Moderate Zone with the index value of 129. Kolkata in the east and Mumbai on the west coast are in Good Zone with 44 and 42 index values respectively. PM10 is the common dominant pollutant in both cities.

In the north, Delhi, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad continue to be in the Moderate Zone with 118, 115 and 149 index values respectively. O3 (Ozone) is the dominant pollutants in all three cities. As per the fresh air quality index (AQI), Bengaluru remains in Good Zone with 36 index value. Similarly, Chennai also remains in Satisfactory Zone with 61 index value. CO (Carbon monoxide) and O3 (Ozone) are the remnants in the city. In the north, Delhi, Faridabad and Ghaziabad are in Moderate Zone with 115, 158 and 147 index values respectively. O3 and PM10 are the leading cause of pollution in all three cities. In the east, Kolkata and in the west coast, Mumbai are in Good Zone with 31 index value in both the cities.

Pollution is in the air! According to a WHO survey, the national capital Delhi’s air quality has deteriorated to become one of the worst on the globe.

Air pollution is a grave issue in India. It is considered even more serious than the malnutrition in the country! The WHO study reveals that at least 14 crore people in India breathe air which is at least 10 times over the safe limit set by the organisation. Out of the 20 most polluted cities in the world, 13 are in India. Air pollution is also the cause behind the death of around 20 lakh people each year in India.

The major cause of pollution in the urban areas is emission from industry and vehicles. In rural areas, biomass burning is the main source of pollution. The air quality is degrading day by day. The diseases caused due to severe pollution, such as stroke, heart diseases, and lung cancer, have reached an alarming level. Needless to say, pollution has a direct effect on our health, and needs to be tackled on a war footing.
