Key Pulwama Terrorist Killed in EncounterUpdate – 11th March 2019

One of the main planners of the Pulwama attack has been reportedly killed in an encounter. Mudasir Ahmed Khan, one of the 3 Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, was killed in south Kashmir’s Tral area by security forces. He also goes with the alias ‘Mohd Bhai’. He was 23 years old and had a graduate degree. By profession, he was an electrician and used to be a resident of Pulwama. He is believed to have joined Jaish in 2017 as an overground worker.

Yesterday’s grenade explosion has still some people shaken. With injured people’s toll reached to 30 and 1 person dead, the attack has been considered gruesome. Mohammad Sharik, a 17-year-old resident of Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, died after sustaining fatal injuries in the chest. Among the injured are mostly conductors and drivers. The accused is a 15/16-year-old class 9th student of a private school in Kulgam, located in the south of Kashmir. The teen socialised a bit with Kashmiris yesterday morning before lobbing the grenade under a bus at the bus station at about 11.30 am. The teen has confessed to the crime. He was directed by Hizbul Mujahideen to carry out the task.

According to the officials, the intention behind the attacks was to create communal polarisation in the area.

The accused has been identified as a Hizbul Mujahideen operative. He has confessed to the crime. The grenade exploded around 11.30 am. According to the police, he reached Jammu today only. The accused was assigned the task by Hizbul commander.

In the attack, one teenager is killed and 30 are hospitalised due to injury. Five of them are in critical condition. A resident of Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, 17-year-old Mohammad Sharik has died after sustaining multiple splinter injuries in the chest. This tragedy has happened right after 3 weeks Pulwama terror attack was carried out.

An accident has taken place at a bus station in Jammu. Reportedly, a grenade exploded inside the bus. At least eighteen people are injured. They have been taken to hospital. According to an eye witness, there was a big blast. A number of locals gathered around the site. Nobody has taken responsibility for the attack so far.

As per Pakistan sources, Wing Commander Abhinandan has been handed over to the Indian High Commission safely with the help of International Red Cross. He returns through Wagah border. Earlier it was planned that he will be flown in from Islamabad to Delhi, but later it was decided that he would return from Wagah border.

Four Security Personnel Martyred in Kupwara District, J&KUpdate – 1st March 2019

Unfortunately, four security personnel have died in the line of duty in Kupwara district of J&K today. Official sources report that an officer, Inspector of the CRPF, a jawan, and two local policemen of J&K died in an anti-terrorism operation in Kralgund village of Langate area of the district. Sources say that it was thought that the terrorists were dead and suddenly they attacked from the debris of a destroyed house. Total of 8 personnel, including a commandant were injured in this exchange of fire. Earlier today, security forces had reported that they have killed two terrorists in the encounter. The information about these terrorists was received prior on Thursday because of which an early morning raid was planned.

Captured Indian pilot Wg. Cdr. Abhinandan is likely to reach India at 4 p.m. Today. The pilot, who will be accompanies by Group Captain J.T. Kurian, Air Advisor in the Indian High Commission, will reach India via the Wagah border. According to reports, due to security reasons, the government has not divulged details of the time or place of the handover.

Wing Commander Abhinandan in Pak CustodyUpdate – 27th February 2019

On February 27, Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan’s plane was shot and he was captured by the Pakistani army in Horra’n village in Bhimber district across the LOC where he landed, reports Dawn. Later, the pilot was taken to Bhimber in a Pakistan military convoy. As per Dawn’s report, IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman tried to swallow maps and documents and was nabbed by a local mob who “roughed him up, in a fit of rage”, meanwhile, army personnel arrived there and took him into their custody. The pilot is still in the custody of the Pakistani military.

It was made clear that Pakistan would be well advised to ensure that no harm comes to the Indian Defence personnel in its custody. The Pakistan army has claimed that only one downed India pilot is in its custody. Pakistan had earlier issued a statement that it had captured two downed Indian pilots, further adding that one of them was injured. With tensions increasing between India and Pakistan, services at nine airports in the northern part of India were temporarily suspended. Among these were Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The order to shut down the airports has been withdrawn. At the meeting a detailed presentation regarding the security situation in India was given. The officials were directed by the Home Minister to ensure that the BSF remains on high alert.

 

IAF Attacks Terror Camps in BalakotUpdate – 26th February 2019

On February 26, at 3.30 am, 12 Mirage 2000 fighters of the IAF bombed terrorist camps in Balakot in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. As per the IAF, between 200 to 300 terrorists were killed in the air assault. Balakot is a hub of terrorist activities and militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed is operating its terrorist camp here. Bombs weighing around 1,000 kg were dropped at the camps. The IAF air strikes, which lasted less than 20 minutes, also devastated terrorist launch pads in Muzaffarabad and Chikoti, located in Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir. The air strikes targeted terrorists and not civilians. Meanwhile, Pakistan accepted the claims that Indian aircraft entered its territory, but stated that no casualties were reported.

Pulwama Attack: Suicide Bomber Kills 40 CRPF PersonnelUpdate – 14th February 2019

On February 14, 2019, 40 CRPF personnel were killed when a suicide bomber rammed his vehicle in a convoy of vehicles on the Jammu Srinagar Highway. The suicide bomber was also killed in the attack which took place at Lethpora in district Pulwama. Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based Islamist militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack. Jaish-e-Mohammed member, Adil Ahmad Dar, was identified as the attacker.
