After making a landfall in coastal areas of Bangladesh, heavy rains triggered in Odisha and West Bengal. More rains are expected in West Bengal in regions like Howrah, Hooghly, Burdwan, North and South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">To monitor the flood situations, the government in Bengal has launched a emergency helpline number \u2013 1070.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">WBST310715<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">Cyclone Komen Approaches West Bengal and Odisha<\/h2>\n<div style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 12pt;\">3:06 PM IST, 30 July, 2015 &#8211; According to the MeT department, a deep depression over the northeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm \u2018Komen\u2019. The department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rains in Gangetic West Bengal. It also said that the wind speed is reaching 6,575 kmph and would prevail along the north Odisha coasts and West Bengal. Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into sea along the coasts of these states.<\/div>\n<p>Rainfall would occur at isolated places with heavy rainfall over Gujarat region, Daman, Dadra &amp; Nagar Haveli , Saurashtra, Kutch, rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, \u00a0&amp; Diu during next 48 hours.<\/p>\n<p>In Bengal, the areas where maximum rainfall is expected, include East Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Howrah, Birbhum and Burdwan.<\/p>\n<p>Odisha is battling floods in five districts, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak and Balasore.<\/p>\n<h3>Current Position of Cyclone Komen<\/h3>\n<p>3:15 PM IST, 30 July, 2015 &#8211; Komen currently lies near latitude 21.70 N and longitude 91.20 E, 95 km south &#8211; southwest of chittagong (41977) and 300 km east &#8211; southeast \u00a0of Kolkatta ( 42907) . The system would move north &#8211; north west wards and cross Bangladesh coast between longitude 90.5\u00b0E and 91. 0 \u00b0E by afternoon of today the 30 th July 2015 .
