Bala Trailer Review

Ayshmann Khurrana‘s next Bala’s trailer has been released on October 10. After a successful run of ‘Dream Girl’, Khurrana is back to entertain us with another social satire in ‘Bala’.

The trailer starts with a classroom scene between Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar where Pednekar insist the former to remove his cap while addressing the class “ … ye topi pehenke kahe baat kar rahe hain”. With her accent she appears to be from either Bihar or eastern part of UP.

Right after the release of the trailer, Pednekar is facing a flak from the viewers saying why a dusky actor has not been cast in the film who has the complexion of the skin needed for the role? The similar criticism has been thrown at her recently for ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ for not casting the heroine of the age shown in the film.

After ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, Khurrana and Pednekar will be seen sharing screen together for ‘Bala’.

The trailer then shows us a glimpse of Khurrana‘s childhood with full head of hair along with present day scenario which is a mismatch from the present day, which indicates him to be suffering from androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness (MPB).

Further, he watches a TikTok video of a girl playing by Yami Gautam with a music in the background playing “ye reshmi zul…!” To woo and then marry her, he plays all the tricks and hacks to hide his baldness from her such as applying cow dung, powders and wigs as advised by Saurabh Shukla, Javed Jaffrey.

But when these tricks were going in vein, he goes to a specialist who suggest hair transplantation where hair follicles are removed from one part of the body called ‘donor site’ to a bald scalp called ‘recipient site’ – “… chhati, haath aur dari ke baal bohot kaam hain, bas ek hi jagah hain…”.

After ‘Vicky Donor (2012) and ‘Agra Ka Daabra’ (2016), the duo will be seen together in ‘Bala’.

Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Bala’s trailer is quite punny to watch.

The film is set to release on November 7, 2019.
