Kia Qyi
Owing to the brilliant success of the Seltos, Kia Motors India is all set to bring in its second offering for the Indian market – a sub 4000 mm compact SUV called Qyi. The car will debut at the 2020 Auto Expo and can be expected to arrive in showrooms by the end of the second quarter. The mini SUV will come loaded with new-age features and will drive on pre-tested BSVI compliant petrol and diesel engine options.
MG ZS Electric
The next offering from British Automobile manufacturer Morris Garages is going to be the ZS Electric SUV. Set to compete against the Hyundai Kona Electric, the ZS offers a 150 BHP equivalent output with three hundred and fifty Newton-Metre of torque. It is completely based on the ZS sold in the European, Chinese and African markets and comes equipped with a 45.6 kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of 300 kilometres on a full charge – a 100 kilometres less than its potential competitor, the Kona.
MG Hector 6 seater
A facelifted six-seater version of the existing platform with new headlamps, daytime running lights and a honeycomb mesh front grille, the Hector 6 seater SUV has an uncanny resemblance to the Baojun 530. Scheduled to be launched sometime in mid 2020, this car will also be among those being displayed at the Auto Expo this February. It will also get restyled tail lamps and a new rear bumper. The powertrain would be the same as the present Hector with the options of a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol, a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel and a 48 V hybrid version of the petrol variant. All models will be BSVI compliant.
Renault HBC
Based on Renault Nissan’s global platform that the Triber also shares, the sub compact SUV by the French automaker, called the HBC will be competing with the likes of the Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and the XUV300. Apart from the platform, the HBC will also share Triber’s 1.0 L petrol engine with the 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes as options to choose from. The 2020 Auto Expo will only see a concept version of the HBC, and its actual launch will be scheduled later for mid of the coming year.
Mahindra Thar
Spy shots have revealed a comparatively larger new design of the all too popular Thar, which is currently on test in the country. Some of the new upgrades include larger alloy wheels, a seven slit grille, round jeep style headlamps and LED tail lamps. Interiors are also expected to have a new-age infotainment system, enhanced features and safety equipment. The SUV will come with options between a hard and soft-top roof. The powertrain would include a 2.0-litre diesel engine, offering 140 PS power and 300 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The engine would also be BS VI compliant.
Mahindra Scorpio Next gen
After two decades, the Mahindra Scorpio is getting a complete redesign, and we hope it does justice to the strong identity that the boxy yet butch offering has created for itself in the SUV market. The 2020 Scorpio claims to present a fresh contemporary outlook and a completely new shape, with a more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor mated to either of two options – a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission unit. The motor would be BS-VI compliant and can be expected to produce a significant 150 PS of power.
Mahindra XUV 400
Mahindra seems to be playing around with the XUV segment owing to the success of both the XUV 500 and 300. The company has planned to unveil a larger seven seater version of the XUV 300 to be rebadged and sold as the XUV 400. Powered by a 2.0 litre diesel – the same motor onboard the new Scorpio and Thar, the car will also have a larger interior space than its predecessor and will offer up to three rows of seating.
Mahindra XUV 500 Next gen
Based on the 2020 Ssangyong Korando, the new generation XUV 500 is also amongst the cars being unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo and would be launched later in the year. It would also have larger dimensions and be much more accommodating than the present version, to be able to compete with the likes of the Tata Harrier and MG Hector. The powertrain comprises of a 2.0-litre unit that is expected to be capable of producing over a hundred and eighty horsepower and will be BS-VI compliant. As is with the current XUV, petrol would not be an option though both manual and automatic transmission options would be available.
