Winning the T20I series against the West Indies boosted the morale of team India for the upcoming three-match one-day series. Men in blue are gearing up to go all out and clinch the ODI series, which will add another feather to the team’s cap. After the short celebration of T20I series triumph, Kohli and Co. landed in Chennai ahead of the first ODI match starting on 15 December at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Positive body language

The body language of Kohli and his men are positive and ready to take on Kieron Pollard’s troops in the three-match series. After their convincing 67 runs victory in the deciding T20I match at Wankhede Stadium, Virat Kohli and boys are looking to repeat the same sort of performance in the forthcoming one-day series to knock out their opponent and snatch the series.

Hard to beat India at home

At least on paper, India is a formidable side to be beaten, especially in their backyard. In spite of some talented youngsters in the team, the visitors are looking disjointed and inconsistent and missing the punching power as well as winning streak. They will have to produce some extra-ordinary cricket to surpass India, which seems impossible but can’t be ruled out.

India make winning a habit

The present Indian side has made winning its habit; players are full of confidence and ready to face any challenge. All the players are giving more than 100 per cent; they know a couple of failures would be enough to lose place from the team. The bench strength of the group is so strong that many extra-ordinary players have to warm the bench and remain ready for the replacement. The purpose of all the players is to enhance their performance and cement the place in the team. There is no room of slackness for anyone in the team. It doesn’t matter what the status of the players is.

Agarwal replaces Dhawan

The blue-eyed boy of Test cricket Mayank Agarwal has been called to replace injured Shikhar Dhawan for the forthcoming series against the West Indies. Dhawan was ruled out from suffering a knee injury during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Mayank Agarwal had shown consistency in the Test series and scored tons of runs. This sensational batsman is set to break the ice in the limited over cricket too.

Rahul a ‘healthy headache’ for selectors

KL Rahul although no longer an option in Test matches at this moment for the selectors but his heroic display of batsmanship in T20 internationals has presented a ‘healthy headache’ to the team management. The 27 years old Karnataka batsman fired up the Wankhede pitch and scored a rapid-fire 91 off 56 balls in India’s 67 runs victory in the decisive T20I against West Indies.

Pant’s performance a worry

The only worry for the selectors is the form of under fire wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. His continuous failure has raised the eyebrows of selectors. He has been getting criticism from all quarters and why not.

Bowlers keep rival batsmen guessing

Bowling of team India is perfect for keeping the opposition at bay most of the time and never allow them to score freely. Shami, Shradul Thakur and newcomer Chahar most of the time bowl on tight line and length to keep the batsmen guessing most of the time. The spin department is sufficiently potent as well to mesmerise any batting line up.

West Indies lack consistency

West Indies don’t have fire in their belly to maintain their consistency. Young players are replete with talent, but they are not able to lift their performance on the field, which is a worry for the men in maroon. There was a time when the Caribbean team was called the king of one day cricket, but now this team is considered as minnows. The Carribean have to revamp their domestic cricket to challenge a strong team like India.

At present, India holds the number one spot in Test cricket and are just behind England in the ICC ODI ranking. The way the team is dominating on the cricket field, the days are not far away when the men in blue will leave three lions behind shortly.
