The Central Board for Secondary Education released class tenth result today. The central board examination for class 10th took place largely in the month of March, the exams were marred with controversy as the leaked mathematics question paper was leaked. Four Students have scored near perfect score of 499 out of 500 in this years class 10th results, while nearly 87 per cent students have cleared the matriculate examination out of 16,38,428 candidates who appeared for the class 10th board exams this year. Prakhar Mittal from DPS, Gurgaon; Rimzhim Agarwal from R P Public School, Bijno; Nandini Garg from Scottish International School, Shamli; and Sreelakshmi G from Bhavan’s Vidyalaya, Cochin have made their parents and alma mater proud by scoring the near perfect score of 499.

This is the first batch after the CBSE dumped the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation system, where schools did the majority assessment, after seven years, as the board returned to its earlier format of Annual Board Examination. The change has come with a cost as the pass percentage has decreased massively from 99.03 per cent in 2017 to 86.7 per cent in 2018. Thiruvananthapuram has outscored all the CBSE regions with 99.60 per cent pass candidates, while Chennai region came second with a pass percentage of 97.37 per cent. Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar was quick to congratulate all the students who cleared the examination, while consoled and motivated the one’s appearing for compartment.

For the first time to ease the traffic on CBSE’s website, which sometimes crashes as a result of heavy traffic on the website, search engines like google and bing have tied up with the board to allow the students to check their results. Apart from that, students can access the result offline on Android smartphones through Microsoft’s android app SMS Organizer as well.

On the other hand, Delhi Police has submitted the list of students involved in the recent paper leak scam, that came as shock for lakhs of class 10th and 12th students appearing for this year’s board examinations. The question papers of class tenth mathematics and class twelfth economics were leaked before the scheduled examinations. The class 12th students had to re-appear for the economics examination on April 25, while board decided to opt out retest of class 10th mathematics examination.
