Fate of more than 2.7 lakh students who have applied to 54,000 seats in various streams in 64 different colleges affiliated to the Delhi University (DU) is about to come. DU’s first cut off list for the academic session 2014-15, which was supposed to be announced on June 24 was  declared on June 30 for the admission in three-year under graduate programms. The admissions will take place till July 3. Controversy over scrapping four-year under graduate programme (FYUP) with the UGC is the reason for the delay in admissions.

Second cut off list will be announced on July 4. After this there will be six more cut off lists. In total eight cut off lists are scheduled by the Delhi University as opposed to 10 cut offs in the earlier sessions. The lists will also be uploaded in the websites of various colleges after 8 pm on June 30.

Like any other year this year also the cut off list is likely to be high. The list will not include B.Tech and Bachelor Management Studies (BMS) courses as the University has decided to discontinue these courses. BMS courses will be changed back to BBS and BA Hons (Business Economics) but there is no mention of the four-year B.Tech course. More than 2500 students who got admission in B.Tech last year had protested outside the HRD Ministry and demanded that B.Tech course should not be scrapped.

Fresh admission guidelines had been announced by the Delhi University this Saturday. Students who would meet the set criteria are eligible to take admission. Students who have earlier missed to apply were given a chance to fill the registration form along with the college admission form. Students also need to submit an undertaking declaring that they were taking admission in an undergraduate course of three-year duration in “full consciousness and awareness. There will be a Centralized Counseling but schedule is yet to be announced. Each college will carry out admission of SC/ST and PwD category in the manner similar to General category

As per the guidelines colleges will have additional eligibility criteria. 12-member committee consisting of principals as its members had formulated the guidelines which were then approved by the VC Dinesh Singh.
