Good Morning!

8:05 AM

The world’s largest democracy is on its toes, literally. We as a nation are choosing a new Government, every five years we do that. There is one thing which sure changes every year, the cost of elections. Many of us speculate we add a zero on the right every five years to overall election spend.

Polling for Phase I of Elections in India – 2019 started at 7:00 AM in 18 States and 2 Union territories. The two UTs Lakshadweep Islands and Andaman & Nicobar islands have one seat each. Andhra Pradesh has 25 seats and all 25 are up for grabs, its estranged sisterly state of Telangana has 17 seats and they will be also done for the day. Of course their votes would hit a sandbox and stay in there for more than 40 days.

The states which will vote in a single phase today are Telangana, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.

There is also voting held in some parts of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Odisha, Manipur, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Assam.
