Bihar CEO on Narkatiaganj Incident

Bihar CEO HR Srinivasa has shed light on the Narkatiaganj situation where an attempt of attack was made on Sanjay Jaiswal (BJP). He stated that “An instigating speech was made, after which the situation got heated. The police immediately intervened, and now everything is going on peacefully. I’ll ask for a report. There were sticks in some people’s hands, and the MP’s bodyguard also fired in the air.”

Police Arrested People in Jamshedpur

In a clash between BJP and JMM in Jamshedpur, a total of three arrests have been made. RAF jawans were caught in a clash of the supporters of the two parties. Police reached the scene and arrested some people.

Samajwadi Party has pointed out the irregularities in the UP’s Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency. The party has formally written to the EC (Election Commission). Apparently, SP president Akhilesh Yadav is pitted against BJP’s Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua, but he is running from the constituency.

TMC Workers Preventing Voting in Bishnupur PC

Many people have alleged that the TMC workers have stopped them from casting their votes in the  Bhatpara area, falling under the Bishnupur Parliamentary constituency. Some have even stated that they forcibly took away their voter slips. CRPF jawans have reached the location and are now accompanying the voters.

BJP President Dilip Ghosh’s convoy was attacked by unrecognized men. He has claimed that the men were sent by the TMC. He has stated that “They are behaving like hooligans and not letting polling take place peacefully”. He also said that “they surrounded the car and shouted ‘Dilip Ghosh go back.’”

In Haryana as well, reports of EVM malfunctioning were reported. However, the new replaced EVM is also suffering from glitches and has stopped working. The problem is occurring at  Panchkula’s booth number 135. The voting has been halted once again.

Three-Way Battle in East Delhi

In east Delhi, Gautam Gambhir (BJP) is in a three-way battle with Arvinder Singh Lovely (Congress) and  Atishi (AAP). Lovely has the maximum political experience among the three as he served as a legislator four times and was also an ex Delhi minister. On the other hand, Atishi has worked with political leaders before. Gambhir is new in the political fray and has a lot to prove.

Voting Halted Due to EVM Machines

The reports of EVM failures are reported early in Madhya Pradesh. At a number of polling booths, the voting has been halted as a result of failures in the EVM machines. The polling is yet to begin at some booths in Bhopal. Booth number 75 at Sagar and booth number 8 at Jahangirabad are witnessing faulty EVM machines.

The clashes have already reported for phase 6 of the elections. In West Bengal’s Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency, the firing was held in the Paschimbar area’s booth number 23 and 24. Two of the BJP workers Ranjit Maiti and Ananta Gucchait are reported to be injured.

Polling Begins

The polling has begun for the phase 6 of the elections. The voting is taking place in 6 states and 1 Union Territory. A total of 59 parliamentary constituencies are going to poll. Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli are among the early voters.

With the completion of phase 5, the polling scene has paved the way for the 6th phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. This phase is scheduled for May 12, 2019. This time round, 59 parliamentary constituencies across 6 States and 1 Union Territory will participate in the polling.

All the parliamentary constituencies in the national capital city of Delhi, and the neighbouring state of Haryana, will go to polls in this phase. Some constituencies in the state of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Bihar will also vote on May 12.

Over 113,000 polling stations have been set up, where more than 10 crore voters will choose from amongst 979 candidates. Around 34 constituencies in phase 6 are witnessing contest among 3 or more candidates with criminal records. Around 32 percent of the candidates (311) for this phase have declared assets of Rs. 1 crore and above.
