I have been going to Fujiya for close to six years now and this is one of the few restaurants in Delhi I can go to knowing I will not be disappointed. Fujiya serves Chinese and Japanese food and though not “authentic”, the food is well prepared and tasty and absolute value for money. The serving staff at Fujiya have been around for donkey’s years and know what they are doing. There are a few staple items we order each time we are at Fujiya and being regulars, the serving staff know what we will order even before we have placed our order.

For starters we ordered their Lemon Coriander Soup (chicken) and Fried Prawns. The soup had a slight tang of lemon and the fresh flavour of coriander. An 8 on 10 for the soup. The fried prawns come with a delicious garlic sauce on the side and are essentially a bunch of small-ish prawns mixed in a cornflour batter and deep fried in the shape of small balls. You may have to tell the server to ensure the preparation is cooked properly to make sure none of the batter remains uncooked. An 8 on 10 for the fried prawns. For the main course we ordered their Chinese Chopsuey with chicken and prawns. This is total comfort food and a bowl of wholesome goodness. The chopsuey is nothing but chicken, prawns and a medley of vegetables cooked in a white sauce, poured over a bed of fried and crispy noodles. The crunch the fried noodles add to the dish is what perks up the chopsuey. Fujiya never gets their Chinese chopsuey wrong; a 10 on 10 for this one.

Considering the fact that Fujiya is not a very big restaurant be prepared for a long-ish waiting on weekends. Try and reach early for lunch and dinner if you want to avoid the rush.

Will I go back to Fujiya? I most certainly will.
