Masala Poori – A special Indian cuisine

 

The spices hold special place in the Indian cuisine. They can alter taste and give a nice aroma in the food which is why the food has become famous across the world. In daily use we use many such spices like turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, amchoor powder etc. On the other hand we always either serve bread or rice with our main meals, breads like roti, paratha, poori, naan etc. Its hard to imagine a main course without these lovely Indian breads. Have you thought about mixing these wonderful spices in these breads? I did that today to make my Masala Poori and its just too hard to explain the great taste in easy words. You must try it and would definitely love the preparation. Its easy to mix the spices while preparing the dough and fairly simple to make this poori. Serve them with any of your curry preparations or achaar or just enjoy them with a cup of tea or coffee. Here is Masala Poori Recipe.

All you need is (serves 4)

  • Aata – 2 cup
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Saunf – 1/2 tsp
  • Zeera – 1/2 tsp
  • Ajwain – 1/2 tsp
  • Oil for frying

Masala Poori Recipe

Preparation time: 10 min.

Cooking time: 20 min.

  1. Mix the atta with all other ingredients in a big bowl and knead a tight dough using water as needed.
  2. Cover and keep aside for 10 min.
  3. Make small lemon sized balls, apply little oil and roll them into 5 inch circles.
  4. Heat oil in a kadhai, when it is hot, fry the poori’s from both sides till golden brown.
  5. Drain on a kitchen tissue.
  6. Serve hot with your choice of curry or vegetable.

Tip

The dough needs to be tight as loose dough will not make fluffy poori’s.
