Meve Ki Kheer

Many important festivals in India, such as the Navratra and Durga Puja, are celebrated throughout India by devotees keeping fasts or vrats. As per the religious sentiments, only specific items are allowed to be eaten during the daytime of these fasts, and one such item is kheer. Kheer can be made with many different ingredients; however, to be true to the festival spirit, I made Meve Ki Kheer today. This milk kheer is made using many different varieties of dry fruits, including makhane or lotus seeds, chironjee, kishmish or raisins, nariyal or coconut, badam or almonds, kaju or cashews and piste or pistachios. And believe me, this mixture not only sounds amazing, but tastes heavenly! I like to serve it chilled, bu you can have this dish hot also.

All you need is (serves 4)

Full Cream milk – 1 lt

Sugar – 1/2 cup

Makhane – 4 cups

Chironjee – 2 tbsp

Dry coconut – 1/4 cup (grated)

Badam, Kaju, Piste mixed – 1/2 cup (crushed)
