Punjabi samosa is one of the all-time favourite snacks from north India. It is a real pleasure eating samosas over chit-chat with your family and friends with some nice home made coriander and mint chutney and tea or coffee. Its available in most chaat and mithai shops. However, it gives immense joy to create something on your own. Its fairly easy to make Punjabi samosa and you can be sure of the quality. The filling in samosa is mostly potatoes. However, it is easy to create your own variation by adding green peas, paneer, or for non-vegetarians, some shredded chicken. Whatever be your filling, samosa always satisfies you. This recipe takes you through the pleasure journey of creating an amazing Punjabi samosa.

Ingredients needed for Punjabi Samosa

Maida – 1 cup

Ajwain – 1/2 tsp

Boiled and mashed potatoes – 2

Green chilies chopped – 1

Red chili powder – 1tsp

Garam masala – 1tsp

Amchoor – 1tsp

Salt to taste

Oil for frying

How to make Punjabi Samosa

Knead the maida with ajwain into slightly thick dough with water and some oil.

Keep it covered with damp cloth for about half an hour.

Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan. When it is hot, add boiled potatoes, salt, red chili powder, amchoor, garam masala and green chili in a bowl.

Cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.

Take lemon size dough and roll it to 6 inches in diameter.

Cut it into half.

Use the potato filling in each half and seal the edges.

Heat the oil in a pan.

When the oil is very hot, fry the samosas till golden brown from all the sides.

Serve hot Punjabi samosa with coriander and mint chutney.
