Advisory Issued by Delhi Police and Other Agencies for Republic Day
Ahead of Republic Day celebration,Delhi Police has issued travel advisory for smooth flow of traffic.

All residents of Delhi and those visitors arriving in the capital on 25 and 26 January 2020 need to note the following information based on the following Traffic Advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police.

The Republic Day Parade will commence from Vijay Chowk at 09.50 AM on 26 January 2020 (Sunday) and proceed via India Gate to Red Fort.

For smooth flow of traffic and to minimize inconvenience to the general public, the Delhi Traffic Police has into place special traffic restrictions and guidelines for people to follow in and near Rajpath and along the route of the parade.

People are well-advised to avoid these places till the parade is over on 26 January.

Route of the Parade

The parade will begin at Vijay Chowk and proceed on Rajpath towards India Gate and the C-Hexagon. From here, the parade will proceed to Tilak Marg and then to Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, before reaching Red Fort, where the parade will conclude.

Traffic Restrictions

No traffic movement will be allowed on Rajpath – Vijay Chowk to India Gate on 25 January (Saturday) and on 26 January (Sunday) till the parade is over.

No cross-traffic will be allowed Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road on 25 January (Saturday) and 26 January (Sunday) till the parade is over.

The area around India Gate and C-Hexagonal will remain closed on parade timings. Its better to avoid movement in this area till the parade is over.

From Tilak Marg to Red Fort, no traffic movement in either direction will be allowed from 1000 hrs and till the parade is over on 26 January. Limited cross-traffic may be allowed depending on the parade movement. However, it is well-advised to avoid these routes until the parade finishes.

Those who must travel on 25 and 26 January are advised to take the following routes:

North-South movement

Traffic may move on Ring Road – Ashram Chowk – Sarai Kale Khan – I.P Flyover – Rajghat – Ring Road

From Madrasa – Lodhi Road ‘T’ point – Aurobindo Marg – AIIMS Chowk –Ring Road – Dhaula Kuan – Vande Mataram Marg – Shankar Road – Park Street or Mandir Marg.

East-West movement

Ring Road-Bhairon Road- Mathura Road – Lodhi Road – Aurobindo Marg – AIIMS Chowk –Ring Road – Dhaula Kuan – Vande Mataram Marg – Shankar Road – Park Street or Mandir Marg.

Ring Road – ISBT – Chandgi Ram Akhara – I.P College – Mall Road – Azadpur – Punjabi Bagh.

Ring Road- Boulevard Road- Barf Khana Chowk – Rani Jhansi Flyover- Faiz Road – Vande Mataram Marg – R/A Shankar Road.

Approaching New Delhi Railway Station

From East Delhi:

Boulevard Road via ISBT Bridge – Rani Jhansi Flyover – R/A Jhandewalan – D.B. Gupta Road-Sheela Cinema Road- Paharganj Bridge and reach New Delhi Railway Station.

From South Delhi:

Dhaula Kuan – Vande Mataram Marg – Panchkuian Road -Outer Circle Connaught Place-Chelmsford Road for Paharganj side or Minto Road- Bhavbhuti Marg for Ajmeri Gate side.

Approaching Old Delhi Railway Station

From South Delhi:

Ring Road – Ashram Chowk-Sarai Kale Khan-Ring Road – Rajghat-Ring Road-Chowk Yamuna Bazar – S.P. Mukherjee Marg-Chhatta Rail-Kauria Bridge and reach Old Delhi Rly. Station.

From North Delhi:

There are no restrictions on traffic approaching Old Delhi Railway Station or New Delhi Railway Station from north Delhi. However, it is advisable to leave well ahead of time due to unforeseen delays or traffic congestion in certain parts.

Revised Bus Terminating Points

City Buses

Movement of the City Bus Services will be curtailed at the following points:

  1. Park Street/Udyan Marg
  2. Pragati Maidan (Bhairon Road)
  3. Hanuman Mandir (Yamuna Bazar)
  4. Aram Bagh Road (Paharganj)
  5. R/A Kamla Market.
  6. Delhi Sachivalaya (IG Stadium)
  7. 7 Mori Gate
  8. ISBT Kashmiri Gate
  9. ISBT Sarai Kale Khan
  10. Tis Hazari Court

Inter-State Buses

  • All Inter State buses coming from Dhaula Kuan side shall terminate at Dhaula Kuan.
  • Buses coming from Ghaziabad’s side will be diverted at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi for Wazirabad Bridge.
  • Buses from Ghaziabad bound for Shivaji Stadium shall take NH-24, Ring Road, and terminate at Bhairon Road.
  • Buses coming from NH-24 shall take the right turn on Road No. 56 and terminate at ISBT Anand Vihar.

Metro Services

Metro Rail Service shall remain available for commuters at all Metro Stations during the parade on 26 January (Sunday) 2020.

Please note, Boarding/De-boarding will not be permitted at the following metro stations:

Kendriya Sachivalaya and Udyog Bhavan: From 5:00 AM to 1230 PM on 26 January 2020.

TSR / Taxi

No Auto or Taxi will be permitted movement in areas bound by:

  • Saansad Marg Upto Tolstoy Marg Upto
  • Ashoka Road Upto R/A Patel Chowk
  • Tolstoy Marg Upto Kasturba Gandhi Marg
  • Kasturba Gandhi Marg Upto Ferozeshah Road
  • Ferozeshah Road Upto R/A Mandi House
  • Bhagwan Dass Road
  • Mathura Road
  • Baba Kharak Singh Marg
  • Mother Teresa Crescent
  • Subramaniam Bharti Marg
  • Humayun Road
  • A.P.J Abdul Kalam Marg
  • Kamal Ata Turk Marg
  • Sardar Patel Road
  • Kautilya Marg

HTVs / LGVs

  • No HTV / LGV will be permitted to enter the Capital borders from 10:00 PM on 25 January (Saturday) and will remain in force till the parade is over.
  • No HTV/LGV will be allowed to ply between I.S.B.T. Sarai kale Khan and I.S.B.T. Kashmiri Gate on Ring Road from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM on 26 January 2020 (Sunday).

Banned till 15 February 2020 (Saturday)

Flying of UAVs, UASs, quadcopters, hang gliders, hot air balloons, para-motors, para-gliders, para jumping from aircraft, small size powered aircraft, microlight aircrafts sub-conventional aerial platforms like remotely piloted aircraft, etc. are prohibited over the jurisdiction of National Capital Territory of Delhi till 15 February 2020

General Precautions:

Avoid carrying or eating food in the open on 26 January till the parade is over, as it attracts birds, which can cause air-accidents.

Be alert of pickpockets.

Please dial and inform Police Control Room on 100, if:

You see any unclaimed baggage or object.

See people moving around suspiciously.
