Date of Birth: November 23, 1962

Place of Birth: Kota in Rajasthan

Parents: Om Birla was born to Shri Shrikrishna Birla and Late Smt. Shakuntla Devi in a Marwari Maheshwari family.

Spouse: Dr. Amita Birla; they are blessed with two daughters.

Political Party: Om Birla is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

Education: He completed his M.Com from Govt. Commerce College, Kota and Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer (Rajasthan).

Career: Om Birla’s political career started at the age of 17 while he was still in school. In fact, he was elected president of his government school’s student union in 1979. He also joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his student life. Apart from that, he brings with him considerable experience in the field of social work and cooperative societies.

Political Milestones: Om Birla is the product of student politics, who also served as state president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He won his first assembly elections in 2003 from Kota South constituency in Rajasthan and was a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly (MLA) three times. He was elected to the 16th and the 17th Lok Sabha from Kota constituency in Rajasthan in 2014 and 2019 respectively. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Energy and Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in the 16th Lok Sabha. At present, he is discharging his duty as the 17th Lok Sabha Speaker.
