Preparing-for-12thboard-exam-and-IIT-JEE-simultaneously

Every year, thousands of students from around the country take their board exams. The future of a student is determined by how well she or he does in the exams. Board exams are held in the month of March. Thereafter, many students opt for graduation or professional courses. However, for students who wish to pursue engineering, cracking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is of paramount importance. It is not easy to crack the examination and requires strenuous preparation. The IIT JEE is held in the month of April. However, students find it tough to prepare for JEE as it is held just a few weeks after the end of the board exams. But, it is not difficult to prepare simultaneously for the board examination and the Joint Entrance Examination. All that is required is a little bit of strategic preparation and a whole lot of hard work. So, let us look at how students can prepare for both the examinations simultaneously.

Devise a strategy

JEE is a really tough examination. So, before you begin preparation for the examination, it is importance to devise a strategy. A sound strategy is half the work done and will make it easy for you to reach your goal. When you make a plan include the syllabus of both the board exams as well as that of the JEE. Now break down the syllabus into separate sections, topic wise. Each topic should have a deadline and it should strictly be completed in that time period. However, you should be realistic in your goals. You should only set the targets that you feel you can achieve. Do not try to do too much at one time. It would only add to the stress and slow you down.

Go through the syllabus thoroughly

Study the entire syllabus. It is not advisable to leave any part of it. At times, we think that a particular section is insignificant or many not appear in the examination. Do not let these thoughts creep into your mind. You have to study the entire syllabus, for you do not know what question might be asked in the examination. Do not leave the hard part of the syllabus to be prepared at last. It would only add to the burden. Try to complete the syllabus in a systematic manner. The most important part is to complete the syllabus on time.

Revise the syllabus

As already mentioned, it is essential that you complete the syllabus on time. If you are able to complete the syllabus two months before the examination, it would give you ample time to revise. There are a few sections that need to learnt by heart. A thorough revision would surely help you to learn them well and get good marks. There may be a possibility that you may have time constraints. In such a scenario, identify those sections which have a weightage and revise them thoroughly. Do remember, the more you revise, the more is the possibility of fetching good marks.

Try to analyze the pattern of the exams

It is important that you have a clear understanding of the pattern of the question paper. The board exams and the JEE have certain specific pattern of questions. Try to analyze the pattern as this will give you an insight into how much time you need to spend on a particular section or question. This will help you prepare in a more effective manner and will enable you to score high marks in the examinations.

Practice previous year’s question papers

It is essential to practice previous year’s question papers. This will provide you with an idea of what kind of questions are asked in the examination. Practicing last year’s question papers would also clear you concept, and provide you a critical insight into your strength and weaknesses, thereby increasing your confidence. So, do take a couple of mock tests before you finally appear in the exams

Finally, if you remain calm and relaxed, make a sound strategy and work hard for your goal, you are bound to do well in both the board exams and the Joint Entrance Examination.
