The five-day Aviation Expo, which started on 16 March 2016, witnessed leading aviation firms from all over the world gathering at Hyderabad to display their spectacular products at the India Aviation Exhibition and Conference Event 2016. The fifth edition of the event, which is being held at the Begumpet Airport, will take place from 16 to 20 March 2016 with the theme ‘India’s Civil Aviation Sector: Potential a Global Manufacturing & MRO Hub’. This year, Canada and the USA are the partner countries.
Here are some important points that you would like to know about the mega event.
A grand inauguration
The event was formally inaugurated by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, on 16 March. Besides the Governors and Chief Ministers of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh, ambassadors and other important dignitaries from across the world were present at the inauguration.
The organisers
Spread over 10,000 square metres of exhibition area, the mega event, which promises to mesmerise audience and aviation experts alike, is being supported by the Director General Civil Aviation, Air India, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Airports Authority of India, Pawan Hans, SP Guide Publications, Fornborough International, Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries and Business Aircraft Operators Association.
Big names to watch out for
As with the previous editions, this year, too, big names in the aviation sector will be taking part in the event. The participants include aircraft and helicopter manufacturers, as well as those in the related sectors such as engine manufacturers. It has been estimated that more than 200 participants from over 25 countries would be present at India Aviation 2016 and some names to watch out for this year include, Bell Copters, Rolls-Royce, Dassault, Airbus, Boeing, Russian Helicopters, Gulfstream and other well-known names.
Unique highlights of the show
It is expected that the mega show will feature around 29 aircraft ranging from small business jets to big ones. Other than this, policy makers, aviation experts and other eminent speakers will address a conference that will be held on 17 March. Titled “Indian Civil Aviation Sector: Potential as Global Manufacturing Hub”, the conference will focus on the policy issues and business aspects of the industry. Spectators will also get to see a spectacular aerobatics display by the Mark Jefferies’ team. The events will see four pilots with four engine aircraft lighting up the sky with their heart-pumping aerobatics. Meanwhile, Dassault will be showcasing its latest business jet, Falcon 2000LXS, at the event.
A growing industry
The Indian aviation sector is making rapid strides and will see further growth in the years to come. A press release by the aviation ministry says that during the 12th Five Year Plan, the sector will probably witness investments of around $12.1 billion. Of this, some $9.3 billion will come from the private sector. With an aim to make India an aviation hub and one of the three key aviation markets on an international level, the government of India will set up 200 low-cost airports in the next 20 years. This will play a crucial role in connecting tier-II and tier-III cities.

It will be held from 16 to 20 March 2016 and will be open from 10:00hrs to 17:00hrs. The event will be held at Begumpet Airport, Sardar Patel Road, Hyderabad, India.
