Hairfall Problems

Hair fall problem is something which everyone goes through at some point or another. We’ve all seen bathroom’s drain hole getting blocked, those hair brush’s teeth hopelessly entangled with dry damaged hair or those occasional embarrassing moments when you find a number of broken strands during a playful swirl of locks around your finger. Trust us, hair fall is not only a major loss on fashion points but also a serious indicative of deteriorating hair health. So, here’s a list of some simple home-made natural remedies which can revive back your hair health and give them the freedom to wave freely in their shiny natural-self.

1. Neem

This one is simple. Take 10-12 dry neem leaves and heat it in a vessel containing water. Boil the water till it reduces to half of its volume. When it cools, rinse your hair with it.

Usage Frequency

It can be done once a week. For best results, use it after shampooing your hair, as they are cleanest at the time and will be exposed to most of the solution.

A word of caution here! Do not let neem mixture get into your eyes as it can cause some serious case of eye burning. Be extra careful while rinsing off the neem mixture.

Why This Works

Neem helps in improving the health of scalp and also promotes the growth of hair. It also nourishes the hair roots by stimulating the blood flow to the skin. In case, you have a lice problem, neem also takes care of that.

2. Greek Yogurt

Prepare a paste of Greek yogurt (2 tablespoons), honey (1 tablespoon), lemon (one) in a bowl. Using a hair dye brush, apply the mix to hair roots and scalp. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.

Usage Frequency

Ideally, once a week is sufficient, but if you have dry hair, then twice a week would be better.

Why This Works

This pack combines the power of conditioner and damage preventing hair mask. Greek yogurt provides the natural conditioning and proves extra beneficial for hair with its protein and vitamin B5 content. According to some studies, it contains probiotics which can even make hair grow. Honey, on the other hand, protects the hair from damage due to its antibacterial properties. Both when combined fight aggressively against hair fall.

3. Onion Juice

Grate or squeeze an onion to extract its juice. To get rid of its pungent smell, you can add rosewater to it. Add 2 tsp of honey to the mixture and stir well. Apply this on hair generously and leave it on for 40-50 minutes before washing off.

Usage Frequency

Its application once a week would do good to your hair.

Why This Works

Onion is rich in sulfur which encourages hair growth by improving blood circulation to the hair follicles and thus control hair loss. Onion also eliminates the bacteria which can cause scalp infections.

Once again, don’t let the pack contents get into your eyes. Although not harmful, onion juice can cause itching and burning in eyes. Wash thoroughly with cold water, in case you feel the burning sensation.

4. Lemon Juice

Squeeze 2-3 lemons in a bowl and mix with 1 cup of warm water. Apply it just after you shampoo your hair. Pour it over your head and massage your way down the whole scalp. Leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse off. Close your eyes while applying it as lemon juice is acidic.

Usage Frequency

The frequency should be once or twice a week. Avoid frequent use and leaving it on for long durations as it can dry out your hair.

Why This Works

Lemons are known to be excellent astringents. They tighten the scalp pores and this controls hair fall. They also boost hair health, being rich in the vitamin C content.

5. Green Tea

We all are aware of a large number of health benefits of drinking green tea. But do you know it is also a whole lot useful when used externally? Green tea can prove to be a blessing for your hair-losing scalp! Take 2-3 tea bags and keep them dipped in the hot water until the water cools down. Now take the solution and massage it over all your scalp. After an hour, rinse it off.

Usage Frequency

It can be done twice a week after shampooing.

Why This Works

Green tea stimulates hair follicles and encourages hair growth. It also prevents hair fall.
