Human rights are such rights which are essential to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status. It is entitled to everyone without any discrimination. The right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more are crucial for a peaceful and secure existence. Human Rights have given mouth to the downtrodden of the society to express themselves freely and without any pressure.

Human Rights Day celebrated since 1948

Seeing the importance of Human Rights Day, which is celebrated every year on 10 December since 1948. On that day, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is available in more than 500 languages. This day empowers everyone, so it is observed all over the world.

Youth gets special status in 2019

The theme of 2019 for Human Rights Day is “Youth Standing Up for Human Rights”. According to the UN, the participation of the youth is necessary for achieving sustainable development for all. Apart from this, youngsters can play a vital and changing role in the social, economic and political transformation and gradually bring several errant segments on the right track. The United Nations, through this year’s theme, said they want to celebrate the youth’s potential as “constructive agents of change” and have a large number of people help in promotion and protection of human rights. Youth across the world has been assigned a moral responsibility to stand up against racism, hate speech, bullying, discrimination, and so on.

Role of NHRC in India

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has been playing a pivotal role in solving many complicated issues. The NHRC came into action after the recent incident of shooting of the four rape accused of the veterinary doctor in Hyderabad by the Telangana police. The NHRC team is now camping in Hyderabad to find out the actual reason behind the shooting incident.

NHRC member meet accused families

The NHRC team met with some members of the accused families. Officials recorded their statements; then the team asked the family members of the four accused when they last talked to them and what the culprits told you during their conversation. Therefore, the aim of NHRC, in any case, is to reach the bottom of such cases and unveil the truth. People fearlessly give their statements in front of NHRC members.

Criticise UP police for killing

In February 2007, NHRC criticised the working style of Uttar Pradesh Police in the case relating to the killing of Suraj Singh in Sultanpur. When the investigation completed, they found that UP police had deliberately killed Suraj Singh. The Commission said that the job of the police is to apprehend criminals and book them for offences. If the police transgressed its limits and took the law in its own hands, the security of the ordinary citizens would be severely affected.

Human rights activists are busy all over the world to investigate any form of exploitation. Despite the investigation by police and other agencies, human rights activists investigate any matter independently. Therefore, they always expose the truth in their thorough investigation.
