Month-long border tension between the two most thickly populated countries in the world India and China has been escalating. Last month witnessed many face-offs between the Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Control (LAC), their disputed shared border, located high in the Himalayas.
India and China ready to diffuse tension
Both the neighbouring nations have now decided to diffuse the border tension. Therefore, Indian and Chinese military officials are prepared to talk in lessening the tension. Military officials of both the countries have agals of both the cos have agreed to hold high delegation-level talks today in a bid to settle the month-long tension over the Line of Actual Control.
Officials met on Friday
The talk is possible after foreign ministry officials of both the countries on Friday stressed on decreasing the border tension. Friday’s official meeting was in a peaceful atmosphere, and both nations agreed to follow the guidelines provided by their leadership. Hence both sides are ready to handle their differences through discussion. They also agreed to respect each other’s sensitivities, concerns, and aspirations.
India wants peace
The meeting which is to take place today would start with the Indian delegation making the first submission. Trying to ask both sides to restore peace and tranquillity on the border and to follow the protocols and agreements inked between the two countries in 1993.

The discussion is taking place at the Chinese-side of the Chushul-Moldo Border meeting point. Lt Gen Harinder Singh will lead the Indian delegation, the commander of 14 Corps along with ten other officers who had participated in the earlier meetings with the Chinese counterparts.
Major General Lin Liu, Corps Commander, South Xinjiang Military Division will lead the Chinese-side along with ten other officers from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), who had earlier taken part in discussion with India.
Month-long tension continues
Tension escalated between the two nations’ armies along the LOC following stone-pelting and physical brawl in the Sikkim and Ladakh sectors last month. China deployed 7,000 troops along with war weapons as well on the border and tried to enter Indian territory. Indian troops were not behind and were ready to face any Chinese threat.
Army officers of both nations have held many meetings along the disputed border, but they failed to come on any agreement. Today’s meeting hopefully will bring some fruitful results.
