Indian Army Commands

Indian Army, which is the largest component of Indian Defence Services, is the land-based branch of the Armed Forces. It has its headquarters in New Delhi and is directed by the Chief of Army Staff. The President of the country is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Army. The Army has a regimental system which is divided into seven commands on the basis of geography and operations. Each command is under the control of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief with the rank of Lieutenant General. There are six operational and one training command. Each Army Command is directly affiliated to the Army Headquarters situated in New Delhi.
