Action against DD official for not telecasting PM’s Speech
Prasar Bharati, India’s public broadcaster service has decided to act against R Vasumathi, an Assistant Director of Program in Chennai, for not telecasting live the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Singapore-India Hackathon 2019 held at IIT Madras’ research center in Chennai on September 30.
BJP and Shiv Sena release candidates’ names
The Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena on Tuesday announced 125 and 68 candidate names, respectively. The two parties earlier announced that they would jointly contest Maharashtra elections. In 2014 polls they parted ways after failing to secure a seat sharing formula.

Modi announces open defecation-free country on Gandhi Jayanti
Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with the announcement of a defecation-free country and access to toilets for all. “I am satisfied that on Gandhi Jayanti, we are witnessing the fulfillment of his dream of ‘Swachh Bharat’. I feel lucky that on this occasion, when India has successfully stopped open defecation, I’m here at the ashram,” the Prime Minister wrote in the visitor’s book at Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram on Wednesday.
AP government to set up Village Secretariat system
Andhra Pradesh (AP) became the first state in the country to set up a Village Secretariat system at Karapa village near Kakinada on Wednesday. This step is taken to provide speedy progress in rural areas. Chief Minister Y.S. KSRTC bans plastic water bottles on premier buses
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has banned the supply of single-use plastic water bottles to passengers travelling in its premier services. The corporation took this decision on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Wednesday. Managing Director of KSRTC Shivayogi C. Kalasad said plastic water bottles will be off their services from October 3. Every year, the corporation procures 1.2 Crore water bottles (single-use plastic) and provides them to passengers.

Hyderabad Nizam wins UK court battle against Pakistan
The UK High Court on Wednesday ruled in favor of the eighth Nizam of the erstwhile province of Hyderabad in a case against Pakistan. With this victory the London based court has granted Mukarram Jah and his younger brother the titular Nizam of Hyderabad and the ownership of a fund which has been in dispute for over 70 years. The £35 million dispute has been going on against Pakistan for over 70 years.

Women extract 6 men’s teeth in witchcraft case in Odisha
Police arrested 29 people, including 22 women on Tuesday in a witchcraft case. They allegedly extracted the teeth of six men and forced them to consume human excreta at Gopapur village in Odisha’s Ganjam district. All victims were above 60 years of age; they were taken to a hospital after the incident. All of them are well and said to be stable now.
Mask robbers loot jewels worth Crores from TN shop
Robbers in Tamil Nadu imitated a Bollywood style robbery by using wearing tiger and bull masks on their faces. They stole nearly 30 kg of jewels from a popular jewelery showroom in Tiruchirappalli on Tuesday. They entered the Lalithaa jewelery showroom like professional robbers by drilling a side wall, and sprinkled chilli powder in the surroundings to confuse the guard dogs. DMK demands to make Tamil an official language after PM’s speech

IIT Madras convocation scripts a new history
