Indian Railways on 16 October launched a new Super Rajdhani train on the Delhi-Mumbai route. Train Number 04006 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Bandra Terminus Super Rajdhani is Railways’ Diwali gift to the citizens. Commuting through train on New Delhi-Mumbai route has been cumbersome.

The Super Rajdhani will run from Hazrat Nizamuddin Station of Delhi till Bandra Terminus station of Mumbai. The new Super Rajdhani is set to reduce the traveling time between the busy Delhi-Mumbai route and vice versa by approximately two hours. It is expected to cover the distance of 1,377km in just 14 hours.

Fare

The concept of flexi-fare system will not be operational in the new Super Rajdhani according to the dynamic pricing mechanism of the railways between Delhi and Mumbai, which entails to the fact that the fares of the train will not jump by 10 percent over every 10 percent seat bookings as is the case with usual Rajdhani Express trains. The new Super Rajdhani will cut travel fare by 600- 800 rupees as compared to the other two Rajdhanis – the August Kranti Rajdhani and the Mumbai Central- New Delhi Rajdhani on the route.

Running Schedule

New Delhi-Mumbai Super Rajdhani will initially run for three months i.e. October 16th to January 16th. It will run thrice a week. The train will run from Hazrat Nizamuddin station of Delhi on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and it will chug off from Bandra on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The new Super Rajdhani will have three stops from Delhi which are- Kota, Vadodara, and Surat. It will leave Delhi at 4:15 pm and is likely to reach Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus at 6:10 am the next day. Similarly, it will leave Mumbai at 4:15 pm and will reach Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station at 6:10 am the next day.

Food inside Train

This new Super Rajdhani offers some new facility. Train Number 04006 (NZM-BDTS RAJDHANI SPL) will have ‘specialized’ catering services. Catering Services will be optional which will lead to a special reduction in prices if a passenger chooses to opt out of it.

Catering to the benefits of the commuters, the Ministry of Railways has launched the new Super Rajdhani. With new, cheaper and faster Rajdhani, people can spend more time in the cities as its likely to reach by 6:10 am in Mumbai and Delhi. Thereby, helping commuters to avoid suburban peak hour traffic. This Delhi-Mumbai route is also the one which is to be developed with semi-high speed services into special corridors.

Besides a pantry car and two power cars, the special Delhi-Mumbai Super Rajdhani will have one first AC, two second AC, and twelve third AC coaches. The average speed of the train is likely to be about 89 kmph and is expected to run at a maximum speed of 130 kmph. For better acceleration, deceleration, and higher speed the Super Rajdhani is will be hauled by two WAP5 locomotives of 5,400 horsepower each.
