When a small isolated suburb hastily metamorphoses into a major satellite city, there has to be a story behind it! This is the story of Gurgaon, a city that has seen remarkable transformation over the past 15 years. Atul Sabharwal, in his directorial debut, brings to us a picture of Gurgaon’s real estate politics – a business that has seen much popularity in recent years.

Plot: It is cops versus criminals – the story of the two power holders which Aurangzeb narrates. Yashwardhan Singh, a rich emperor of real estate, lives under the pretense of being a respectable citizen. Fascinated with his power, even politicians go to him to get their work done. DCP Ravikant wants to destroy Yashwardhan in order to be the emperor himself. By replacing Yashwardhan’s son Ajay with his long-lost son Vijay, he starts the game of his dream. But the events that follow change the game beyond reason.

Performance: Arjun Kapoor is back with a bang! With his rugged looks and flattering smile, he is indeed a charmer. After Ishaqzaade, he has delivered another impeccable performance proving himself to be an established performer. Debutant Sasha Aagha is a big disappointment. She fails to impress and her presence remains unnoticed. Rishi Kapoor is excellent as a shrewd man in awe of power and money. Prithviraj definitely has improved from his last performance in Aiyyaa. He seems to be a promising actor.

Music: The music album has five tracks that are in sync with the theme of power. The tracks don’t seem to appeal much except for the song “Jigra Fakira” which is soothing to the ears.

What’s Good: A powerful script and some smashing performances is what makes the movie worth a watch.

What’s bad: The movie starts at a slow pace, gaining strength only in the second half. The plot has some twists and turns which could have been executed better. The end of the film is unpleasantly long and over-stretched.

With a thrilling script, Aurangzeb had all the potential of a blockbuster, had it been tailored better. Nonetheless, the film is definitely worth at least one watch.

Verdict: The ultimate lesson learnt is that “sapnon se zyada apne zaruri hote hain!
