Movie plot: Baazaar movie begins with a scene in which a guy named Rizwan Ahmed (Rohan Mehra) is standing at the terrace. He is profusely sweating and is looking really pale. Then we are introduced to Shakun Kothari (Saif Ali Khan) in the movie who is praying and saying “ Micchami Dukadam” meaning “may all evils that have been done be fruitless”. Later, the story makes a progress and goes in a flashback where Rizwan is a small town guy but has big aspirations. He books a ticket and moves to Mumbai. So, basically both the central characters of the movie are introduced in the opening scenes of the movie. The story solely revolves around Rizwan who intends to make his presence felt in the city of Mumbai and Shakun Kothari, a small town guy from Surat who has become an epitome of greatness in the stock trading market. Baazaar’s plot is solely balanced between greed, power, money and human relations.

Movie review: The film is quite frizzy and possesses a non-linear narrative. Baazaar has both thriller and theme but it lacks a gripping setting which makes it tedious and repetitive at the points. The first half of the movie is extremely slow. However, thrills can be experienced in the second part. The entire movie uses a plethora of stock market jargon and also showcases several complex ideas like insider trading and financial manipulation which makes it a good film. But the over hustle and power play in the movie makes it quite exhausting.

Coming to the performances, debutant Rohan Mehra has put his best efforts to get noticed in the movie but gets overshadowed by Saif Ali Khan. He appears blazing and brilliant in every scene throughout. Radhika Apte as Mehra’s girlfriend has given a fine performance. Chitrangada goes unnoticed in the movie.

Our verdict: Baazaar introduces us to ideas like media manipulations, insider training, and political rigging. The movie takes a deep dive into the big bad world of stock exchange. So, only if you are into business you will be entertained otherwise you will not find the movie worth a watch.
