Movie Plot: Badhaai Ho is the story of a middle-class family dwelling in a Railway colony in Delhi. The family comprises a grandmother (Surekha Sikri), her two grandsons Nakul (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Gullad (Shardul Rana) and their parents Mr. Kaushik and Mrs. Kaushik, who are a middle-aged couple. It is a story full of laughter with a tinge of romance.

The couple becomes the talk of the town when Priyamvada Kaushik (Neena Gupta) gets pregnant unexpectedly. Things take a more awkward turn when they are targeted within their social circles. Their elder son Nakul (Ayushmann Khurrana), who is in his twenties and also has a girlfriend, is startled to know the truth. He doesn’t know how to react at his mother’s pregnancy, so he is avoiding his girlfriend, and friends.

Movie Review: Badhaai Ho depicts two stories in a small-town love-and-vengeance concoction. First one is of Nakul’s parents who have landed themselves in big trouble because of Priyamvada’s pregnancy and another one of Nakul and Renee (Sanya Malhotra) who are on the verge of splitting up because of the arising situations and related consequences. The movie excellently covers the extent of Indian hypocrisy around sex and how people deal with it. The script is skilfully written and balanced.

Neena Gupta has performed really well as a pregnant woman grappling with an unplanned pregnancy. Coming to Gajraj Rao, he has stolen the attention in every scene he is a part of. Rao has remarkably played the role of a father who is constantly oscillating between elation and embarrassment. Surekha Sikri as the grandmother and Sheeba Chaddha as Renee’s mother have done justice to their characters. The comic and maturity blend presented by the ladies in the movie is one of a kind. Ayushmann is the star of the movie and appears to be in the top form. He has shared a comfortable chemistry with Sanya Malhotra in the movie and also has appeared completely convincing as the conflicted son. He has versatility reflected in his character. Sanya has also played her part well and has appeared sober as well as charming.

Our verdict: The magnum opus of the movie is that it has constant tone and excellent dialogues. This laugh-riot movie is robust and definitely, a must watch this weekend.
