About

Low-budget movies with not so popular actors are making rounds in Bollywood since past few years. ‘Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein’ falls in the same category. The promos and trailers of the movie gained people’s attention due to the presence of Naseeruddin Shah. Even the director, producer and other stars have given credit to the veteran actor in bringing the movie to the notice of the audience. Based on the concept of thrill, suspense and murder mystery, let us see what the movie has in store for you!

Plot

Additional Commissioner of Police Sanket Pujari (Naseeruddin Shah) and Sameera Pavate (Auroshikha Dey) are trying to solve a case of multiple homicides which is caught on camera. The homicide of a group of youngsters involved in drugs is a complicated case filled with suspense, twists and turns.

Performances

Naseeruddin Shah is one of the finest actors in Bollywood who has given some fantastic performances in Indian cinema. In ‘Charlie Kay Chakkar Mein”, he is the only big name and has given a good performance; however, not one of his best.

Amit Sial, who is also the movie’s co-writer, has done justice to his role. All other male actors like Anand Tiwari, Subrat Dutta, Sanam Singh Talwar, Nishant Lal and Siraj Mustafa have done a tremendous job.

Among the female leads, Disha Arora has delivered the best performance. Auroshikha Dey, Manasi Rachh and Anchal Nanrajog have also done justice to their respective roles.

Although, the performances of the actors are good, the script is a little loose. The script is a bit confusing for the layman to understand as there are so many twists and turns. Half of the story is shown in the form of a video film which features the main crime. The director has used more of real audience and scenes in the movie and there are no fancy locations and sets.

It is believed that the movie was shot in a short time of 19 days and all the actors have worked for free in the film. Although, the efforts of all the actors could be seen in their performances, overall the movie lacks the intensity to draw audiences to the theatres.

Music

The music of the movie is passable. There is no song in the film except for one in the beginning and another at the end. Almost a good half of the movie does not have a background score.

What’s Good?

Performance of all the actors is appreciable. The suspense when revealed in the end is quite interesting.

What’s Bad?

With hardly any action, no romance, no songs and no drama – you may miss the entertainment quotient in the film. Even though the writers have tried to put down a story filled with twists and turns, there is actually no story as such in the movie. Background of many of the main characters – who, where, what – is not clearly mentioned.

Verdict: Watch it only for a suspense drama or for good performances!
