Youth-centric films have apparently become the flavour of the season. With more and more directors trying to capture the essence of the young lads, we are actually heading towards a youth fest in Bollywood. Engaging the audience with a quirky title, Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend is one such film that hit the silver screen this week. Debutant director, Japinder Kaur tries to kindle the curiosity of the movie junkies with a light-hearted and youth-centric story.

Plot: An aspiring IAS Officer Dhruv, gets trapped in a mess while trying to woo a bank executive, Sakshi. How does he manage to handle the consequences is what Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend is all about!

Performances: Having impressed the audience with films like Pyar ka Punchnama, Chashme Baddoor and Tere Bin Laden, Divyendu Sharma fails to keep up with his standards in this one. This is probably his weakest performance so far.
On the contrary, actor Pradhuman Singh does a fantastic job in adding humour to the film. He is quite a natural and excels in supporting the film.
Jackie Shroff is amusing in his role and delivers a good work. Both Ira Dubey and Prachi Mishra look nothing but puppets in the film. The two of them seem to be wrongly placed in their characters.

Music: The soundtracks of Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend are perky and refreshing, thanks to a host of composers coming together. The songs have been composed keeping in mind the theme of the film. Yo Yo Honey Singh’s Birthday Bash, which also marks his comeback, has already become a sensation. The music of Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend is surprisingly a good package!
What’s Good: The light humour tries to revive the film at some points. The second half is a little better than the first one. The music of the film is definitely the best part of the film.

What’s Bad: The title of the film certainly misguides the audience as the plot runs along a totally different path. The editing, direction and execution are the three blunders that lead to the film’s failure.

The attention that Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend had mustered because of its unusual title could have worked well in the favour of the film. It wouldn’t have been such a bad experience had the execution been taken care of! But unfortunately, even the music of the film could not rescue it. Dilliwaali Zaalim Girlfriend is just a quirky title and that’s about it.

Verdict: This one can be skipped easily!

Rating: * and a half
