It has been a year of mixed movies: the usual light-hearted commercial ones to the hard content, serious movies to the absolutely heroine-oriented movies, each of them making a mark among the audience. 2015 has been a good business year for Bollywood films as many of the movies worked well with the audience. However, it is surprising that most popular songs of 2015 are from movies that have not done well at the box office. 1. Bahubali
• Box office collection: (All languages) Rs. 500 crores (Hindi Rs. 103.71 crores)
• Box office verdict: All time Blockbuster

This Indian bilingual epic historical fiction was a visual treat for the Indian audience. The Tamil-Telegu movie “Bahubali” has no-doubt been successful not only in the home states but also Pan India, including overseas with the dubbing of the movie into Hindi, Malayalam and French languages. Directed by the Hyderabad-based movie maestro S.S. Rajamouli, this movie has been declared as an all-time blockbuster. It is the first non-Hindi film, dubbed in Hindi, to gross over Rs. 100 crores in India. It is also the highest grossing Telugu film of all time.

2. Bajrangi Bhaijan

• Box office collection:Rs. 320.87 crores
• Box office verdict: All time Blockbuster

The movie is a simple story of how a Hindu man with a large heart helps a little mute Pakistani girl to reunite her with her family in her home town. The movie has Salman Khan and the name itself counts a lot. Overall the movie was indeed a heart-warming family entertainer. This film is an all-time blockbuster, with box office collection of more than Rs. 300 crores, the highest for the year 2015. In fact, this movie has also become the most watched Bollywood movie in the history of television, surpassing the previous record held by the film “3 Idiots”.

3. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

• Box office collection: Rs. 201.52 crores
• Box office verdict: Hit

This was the much-awaited movie from Rajshree Productions and a comeback of the duo, director Sooraj Bajratiya and actor Salman Khan after the 1990s blockbuster movie “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun”. Unfortunately, the movie could not win the hearts of the people to a great extent, unlike other Salman Khan movies. But, nevertheless, when a movie has Salman Khan in it, it is bound to work well in box office collections. So, irrespective of the storyline, this movie has also been one of the highest grossers for 2015, crossing Rs. 200 crores and has been declared as a Hit movie.

4. Tanu Weds Manu Returns

• Box office collection: 150.77 crores
• Box office verdict: All time Blockbuster

It is an out and out heroine-oriented movie starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan. This Indian romantic comedy drama film, a sequel to Tanu Weds Manu, directed by Anand L Rai is a small budget movie of Rs 30 crores but has become a block buster movie of 2015 earning a box office collection of Rs.150.77 crores.

5. ABCD2

• Box office collection: Rs. 105.74 crores
• Box office verdict: Superhit

A complete entertainer starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, this movie was the biggest opening of 2015. With brilliant dance performances as the highlight of the movie, ABCD2 was completed with a budget of Rs. 60 crores. It has earned a box office collection of Rs. 105. 74 crores making it a super hit movie of 2015. It is also India’s biggest dance movie hit ever.

6. Baby

• Box office collection: Rs. 95.50 crores
• Box office verdict: Hit

Akshay Kumar’s Baby did not cross the Rs. 100 crore mark, but was declared a hit movie of 2015 in terms of box office collection of Rs. 95.50 crores. With a strong storyline based on the lines of terrorism, this movie was also critically acclaimed for the wonderful performances of Akshay Kumar and the entire star cast. This is the only film without songs but has still been able to capture the hearts of Indian audience, which is a feat in itself.

7. Piku

• Box office collection: Rs. 79 crores
• Box office verdict: Hit

Another heroine-oriented movie doing good business in 2015 is Piku. Made with a budget of Rs 50 crores, the movie had a box office collection of Rs. 79 crores, making a profit of more than 20 crores. With a storyline of a strong relationship between a father and daughter played by Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, it has been a hit movie of 2015.

• Sooraj Dooba Hai Yaaron – Roy: The movie did not do well at the box office but its songs have become quite popular. Sooraj Dooba Hai Yaaron is a party track composed by Amaal Mallik and sung by Arijit Singh and Aditi Singh Sharma. Ranked number one in most list of Best Bollywood Songs of 2015.

• Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan – Roy: After Babydoll, another hit number by singer Kanika Kapoor and the music directors Meet Bros. This Punjabi track ‘Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan’ from the movie ‘Roy’ is a purely feet tapping dance number that can be heard in all discos, parties and functions.

• Jeena Jeena – Badlapur: Sung by Atif Aslam and composed by Sachin-Jigar, the song ‘Jeena Jeena’ from the film ‘Badlapur’ is very melodious and has been one of the biggest hit songs of 2015.

• Superman, Salman ka Fan – Tevar: A dance number with a tapori beat and feel, sung by Wajid and composed by Sajid-Wajid is the first big hit song of 2015.

• Bezuban Fir Se – ABCD 2: This is a slow but catchy dance number from ABCD composed by Sachin Jigar.

• Sun Saathiya – ABCD 2: Another hit song of the same movie is Sun Saathiya sung by Shraddha Kapoor.

• Main Hoon Hero Tera – Hero: One of the most popular Bollywood Songs of 2015 is the title song of the movie “Hero”. The song has won the hearts of many. This is a soft romantic song sung by none other than Salman Khan and composed by Amaal Mallik.
