Henry’s famous short story The Last Leaf, it is a simple yet meticulously woven tale of love.
Plot: Set in the early 1950s, Lootera is the story of a beautiful and elegant daughter of a zamindar, who falls in love with a suave and charming thief, disguised as an archaeologist. Her small, little world is devastated as soon as his identity is revealed. What happens to this love story when fate brings them together again, is what forms a beautiful saga of gentle love.
Performances: Sonakshi Sinha is the star of the show. With such a poise and elegance, she has transformed as one of the finest actors of Bollywood. She is absolutely astounding and impressive in her role. Well done, Sonakshi!
Ranveer Singh has marvelously oscillated from the image of a flirty boy to that of a serious lover. He simply flabbergasts the audience with his persona of a vintage actor. He is dynamic and overwhelming.
Vikrant Massey, though in a short role, is delightful to watch.
Music: The music album of Lootera is a romantic journey with six beautifully composed tracks. Each track weaves a romantic story with melodious music and thoughtful lyrics. The album is a classic composition of relaxed music that soothes the heart.
What’s good: There is a unique tenderness in the movie that spells magic. The script is absorbing and detailed. The romance, serenity and gentleness in the movie mesmerizes the soul.
What’s bad: The slow pace of the movie is, perhaps, the only point.
Lootera is truly a classic masterpiece of Bollywood. It perfectly defines the richness of art and drama. Definitely a must watch!
