Dhadak Movie Plot:

Taking the inspiration from Nagraj Manjule’s, Sairat, Dhadak also revolves around two young lovers who are willing to face every obstacle that comes their way. The movie reflects on the Indian society that still restricts marriage in same caste and believes in such irrational norms. The politics and class system is dominant in the film. Parthavi (Janhvi) is the daughter of a local politician Ratan Singh (Ashutosh Rana) and when her family finds out that she is in love with Madhukar (Ishaan), the son of a middle-class restaurant owner, they try to bring an end to their relationship. However, the couple still manages to elope and face the harsh realities.

Movie Review:

The new faces of Ishaan and Janhvi bring freshness to the film and their innocence seems natural enough to reflect the narrative. The darkness of society and cruel politics inflicted on the naïve youngsters, keep the audience engaged. The romance has a sensitivity and the emotions run high. Ishaan does a perfect act for his calm, confident and dramatic role, however Janhvi at times, is unable to bring up the act when the role needs powerful performance. The weirdest part in the movie, is when you notice that the two are struggling day to day, yet their wardrobe remains in style! It was a bit disappointing how the director wanted to gloss their looks, even when the plot was about realism and depth.

Our Verdict

The movie lacked attention to minute details, yet the heartbeats will race as the climax builds a tension in the minds of viewers. Dhadak is worth a watch, if you enjoy stories that have a strong subject. And yes, the acting talent and potential of newcomers are always fun to judge!
