Plot: The movie “Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety” is a kind of a witty bromance between the two lead characters Sonu and Titu. Luv Ranjan has beautifully written this heterosexual romance keeping the love of Sonu and Titu questionable under a curtain. The theme of the movie is set as “Bromance vs Romance” which appears extremely appealing to the youth as this is the real-life situation of today’s youth. Sonu played by adorable Kartik Aryan has appeared to be more sparkling in the movie as he is the one who protects his friend Titu (played by Sunny Singh) and acts as a saviour from all the shrewd people who approach him and loves Titu like a brother. Sonu also protects his friend Titu from getting romantically entangled with she-devils.

Movie Review:

The movie “Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety” revolves around the three characters Sonu, Titu and his Sweety( played by Nushrat Bharucha). Sonu and Titu are childhood friends cum buddies who are inseparable. They are together since kindergarten. They share the same roof, family, and alcohol. They are so close that Sonu calls Titu’s mother as Mummy which highlights the writer’s intention of displaying the depth of the bond.
The twist in the tale arises when too sweet Sweety enters Titu’s life and she appears perfect to Titu. Sweety is sanskari, delightful, appealing, and beguiling. She is a perfect girl who works with an NGO, arranges Mata ka Jagran, etc and is adored by Titu and his entire family. But, Sonu is suspicious about over-sweetness of sweety and decides to unmask her.

Ranjan’s light-hearted approach seems to be in the right direction as it has tried to counter the typical saas-bahu daily soap and has made a fascinating modern relationship. He has explored the theme in the direction that marriage today is not marriage between two individuals rather it is also between two friend circles. Sweety appears as a utopian woman who is too perfect to be true. The theme further explores and lead you towards the dilemma that perhaps Titu is in love with Sonu unknowingly. A bizarre love triangle is formed in the movie.

Our Verdict: The movie appears to be too diverted from the mainstream consciousness. Sweety (Nushrat Bharucha) is displayed as a vixen deliberately which shows the misogynistic approach of the director. But if you are going to watch this movie neglecting this misogynistic part you will surely enjoy the battle of wills and egos played in “Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety”. So, go and explore Bromance vs. Romance this weekend.
